tin7_creations Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Does anyone know if TLG is still going to continue with Avatar? I really like the show, but it seems that the TLG sets only place focus on season 1 of the series, which, may I say, is the worse of the 3, cause it spends too much time developing characters. If TLG is still continuing with it, I hope they make more sets for the newer seasons, with some of the newer characters. Quote
Dragonator Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 As far as I am aware there is not going to be any more sets released. The last two were done in 2005, and there haven't been any since... I think we have discussed this already somewhere, but I can't be bothered looking for the thread right now. If I recall we came up with all sorts of great sets TLC could do for the line. It is my understanding that because the initial two sets did not sell very well to start with, TLC assumed nobody was interested and canned the line. As we see throughout all there sets, if something fails, it is never brought back. We can still hope however. You never know, they might think of releasing some new sets in conjunction with the live-action movie. I hope so at least. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Yep, Avatar is as dead as a doorknob, which is a shame. Quote
The Rancor Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 (edited) However much I could have liked Avatar (which I don't )... The sets NEVER came out in in the UK! EDIT: Copying my sig, eh LT. Col. Thok? Edited July 18, 2008 by The Rancor Quote
Shoc Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I'd like more Avatar sets, but alas, we probably won't see them unless more are released with the live-action movie. However much I could have liked Avatar (which I don't )...The sets NEVER came out in in the UK! I know one place which sells them, if you're interested. Rockbottom Toystore in Southampton. I don't know where Lilliput is so it might not be so easy to get there. :skull: Quote
ElisHelrot Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Germany never sold these sets, too But the sets looked quite good Quote

I don't know where Lilliput is so it might not be so easy to get there. Actually, Lilliput is near Sandbanks on the Coast in Dorset (you know, South of England, Jurassic Coast etc.) I'm probably only an hour away from Southampton, so I may take a look and see what those sets are like some time considering I've never seeen them before. Without going too much off topic, what other sets do they sell. I know there were only 2 Avatar sets - Fire Nation Ship and Wind Temple. Quote
Dragonator Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I know there were only 2 Avatar sets - Fire Nation Ship and Wind Temple. That would be the Air Temple thank you very much! Well, I think the only thing we can do at the moment is make lots of cool Avatar MOCs! Sound good? Quote
Dovchenko Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 (edited) Set Reference: Air Temple http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/3828-1 Fire Nation Ship http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/3829-1 I like the Avatar sets, but not the show. Great figs and well-built sets. Cool! Edited July 19, 2008 by Dovchenko Quote

They had both Avatar sets last time I looked (about 2 weeks ago), and some other larger ones, including Batman. Rockbottom Toystore is the only place I've got my Lego Batman sets from, apart from Legoland. I haven't seen them anywhere else in England. By the way, the address is: Rockbottom Toystore 30 Bargate Shopping Centre, Southampton, SO14 2YD :skull: Quote
Justin Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I guess the Lego Group and Nickelodeon, the owner of Avatar: The Last Airbender, decided to discontinue the Avatar building sets to focus on the Lego SpongeBob SquarePants licensed sets, since the Avatar sets did not sell as well in 2007. I've witnessed a couple Fire Nation Ships being clearance priced at $30.00 at my local Shopko discount store in Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA, as a speculation of the theme's discontinuation. At that time, Avatar had just came onto the scene. Quote
alexrider7 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 no! there is no more. i was intrested in the ship because i could use it as something else but, who cares! Quote
Justin Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I am speculating that the Lego Avatar sets didn't sell as well as expected, so Lego and the Nickelodeon cable TV network abandoned the idea of producing more Avatar: The Last Airbender building sets to focus on producing more Lego SpongeBob SquarePants building sets since the SpongeBob SquarePants license is the more successful Lego/Nickelodeon license, since more kids and families are familiar with SpongeBob, since he is seen in households around the world. Not to say that Avatar was successful, more so with teens, but SpongeBob has a bit more of a family focus. He is seen in more major worldwide markets than Avatar. It took nine years for SpongeBob to get where he is today in American pop culture. With all that being said, I personally think Lego stopped producing Avatar sets, not only because they did not sell well, but also because Avatar began to have too many complicated storylines for a Lego license, and because SpongeBob hyas a greater potential as a Lego license. With that said, I hope they come out with a Jimmy Neutron or Fairly OddParents theme in the next couple of years. Quote

You never know, they might think of releasing some new sets in conjunction with the live-action movie. I hope so at least. Yes we did. It was in my Avatar Fan Thread! I thought TLG dropped the Avatar license (unfortunately ). But, yeah, maybe they'll pick it back up for the live-action trilogy. I really hope so even if the movies are crap (which I'm assuming right now, seeing as how awesome the cartoons were ). There is still so much potential in locations, battles, and Fire Nation vehicles... How about making some Avatar MOCs btw, guys? I would make some myself, but I missed out on the two sets and don't have any of the minifigs! Also, I'm in my Dark Ages right now. Edited August 30, 2008 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
Manta Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Yep, Avatar is as dead as a doorknob, which is a shame. Sadly, he is right. I wish I was able to get some Avatar sets... Quote
Zorro Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Sadly, he is right. I wish I was able to get some Avatar sets... Me too, but the prices are mostly outrageous, even here in Belgium because they werent released down here. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I thought the show was great! So many awesome sets could have came from that show. So many cool torsos, accessories and weapons could have been made! Quote
