Pencoin Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 But then small sets that feature in large sets...
Refia Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 You've been with the story long enough to know the small sets are never going to play big roles-they want to sell the expensive ones, remember? I know, I know. Still, can't hurt to dream. I like small sets who play active roles. Balta and co are still my favourite small sets ever. Shame I never got any of them, but I liked their story. I hope the Agori at least get some similiar time in the spotlight.
Pencoin Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 I can see this next year though, I mean look at Tarduks set descirption.
Bundalings Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 You've been with the story long enough to know the small sets are never going to play big roles-they want to sell the expensive ones, remember? Takua and Jaller were the main characters in MoL. Granted, they were paired with Rahi, but they were still little dudes. =P ~Bunda
hewkii9 Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 DID 7 makes me feel betrayed - I wanted the Tahtorak. He kicks more big behind than Miserable Miserix ever will.
S-N Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 DID 7 makes me feel betrayed - I wanted the Tahtorak. He kicks more big behind than Miserable Miserix ever will. Meh, I want to see a Teridax-Miserix fight.
Wrinkledlion X Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Makuta has a lair again, too. Er... Teridax has a lair again. Also a funny OGD question: Was the Thorax Launcher named after the Norse god Thor, or is that just a coincidence?Thank you for taking the time off to read this message. It's not Thorax, it's Thornax, and no, it was not. It wouldn't make sense to do so -- "thunder" is not involved in the Thornax's affects, and we are using a Latin naming scheme, not Norse. I didn't name it, but I am pretty sure it was inspired by "thorn," since the spheres have thorny spikes on them. Well, at least we now can confirm that they are using a latin scheme (Kinda figured that it was Latin scheme-ish)
hewkii9 Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Meh, I want to see a Teridax-Miserix fight. A sexy Makuta fight might be fun, but Tahtorak's a frickin' Godzilla. That might be a fun fight. And also, wouldn't what Miserix is doing - tearing holes in things, bein' a lizard arounf the place - constitute brain damage for Mata Nui?

Maybe it'll give Teridax some kind of mental illness, like amnesia?
Zarathos Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Or maybe something along the line of severe mood swings... He'll just get angry at the drop of a hat and strike down a random innocent Matoran in a fit of rage.. -Z
Antrozek Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 TOTAL OWNAGE WITH THIS, PROTOTYPE THORNAX LAUNCHER, BUT HD TARDUK RAANU ATAKUS METUS ZESK BERIX MALUM VOROX STRAKK GRESH TARIX SKRALL Nº20 TUMA FERO Y SKIRMIX
Pencoin Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Its funny how the protos are made before the prelims but we got the prelims first.
Mizzeh Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 That's actually what I'm doing once I get a Glatorian and take pictures of it - equip it with a Zamor Launcher. I think the Thornax launchers were just kind of slapped on, whereas the Zamor Launchers looked cooler on them. I've already started sketching out where to put the launchers on the Glatorian. ..Sorry, I just had to get it out that I hate the Thornax Launchers. :P
Zarathos Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 It's alright, I just hate launchers in general. Thornax and Zamor have been about the best out of all. The giant rocket launcher/bazooka launchers are the worst IMO. -Z

I stil hate the Cordak with a passion that knows no bounds. The only superblaster I tolerate is Takanuva's Midak, but it didn't look oversized on him. It still is huge, though. But Krika's Nynrah and Toa Ignika's Midak went right back into the box and will remain there until the end of time. I'm currently debating what to do with Hydraxon's Cordak. It's too big, I think... Maxilos is the only one in 2007 on who the Cordak did not look out of place, so I left it on. Thornax are great. Small, simple and not screaming "HEY! LOOK AT ME! FORGET THE REST OF TEH SET! JUST LOOK AT HOW AWESOME A SUPERUBERBAZOOKA I AM!". Yay for Thornax. And Zamor. And Kanoka. Edited December 9, 2008 by Refia
Brickthing Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 I agree, because Thornax launchers are one of the smallest launchers so far, yet they have awesome looking ammo (which had better become recoloured for summer sets) and they are build able (I think) as well.
Pencoin Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Don't forget the fact they have meaningful story to them. And their fruit.
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 How on Earth can launchers ruin a set? They're not glued fast, people, take 'em off! -Ikk
Pencoin Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Yep, but I mean then there on the box, in the comics, in the story, and it could of gone to better stuff like no more sword-reuse.
Zarkan Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 How on Earth can launchers ruin a set? They're not glued fast, people, take 'em off! -Ikk Indeed. Launchers can simply not ruin a canister set - they're simply too minor an element. The only exception is when a set has no weapons besides a launcher - but seriously, even that is easy to mod.
Refia Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 (edited) Indeed. Launchers can simply not ruin a canister set - they're simply too minor an element. The only exception is when a set has no weapons besides a launcher - but seriously, even that is easy to mod. For you perhaps. If you don't like a launcher, a bazooka on your set is like the set having your most disliked colour. You won't buy it then. And I'm against taking things of my set, nor do I have the pieces for modification. It's all not as easy as people with the spare pieces or the ones with the money say it is. But I made an exception for Krika and Toa Ignika. Krika I removed his Nynrah and connected his 5th arm to his connector piece on his back. It stabilizes the neck. And Toa Ignika I just removed the blaster and added nothing, like in the books, he just has a sword. The thing is, you shouldn't have to modify the sets, you should buy them and like what you buy. When you don't, LEGO did something wrong for you. And then you have two options: you don't buy it or modify it if you can. But if you can't modify, you don't buy and then you have nothing. Or you could remove the launcher of your set. But in case of Kongu Mahri, that's a bad of a problem, no? I hate that set. Well, I hated all Mahri, but... Like I said before, my opinion is that launchers should be a part of the set, not the focus of it. And that's the problem with the past 2 years. Cordak, Midak and Nynrah were so not-subtle you couldn't look at the canister or the first thing you saw was the blaster. Launchers first, characters second is not a good strategy IMO. Zamor, Kanoka, Thornax and the Rhotuka a bit were better in that aspect. They didn't demand you to see them first, then the character. Especially the Thornax. I can look at the pictures and not notice the blaster until I look a bit better. The launcher is subtle, just another weapon, not the focus of the set. And that, LEGO, is a very good thing. I hope they keep that up for the summer sets. If Toa Mata Nui will have an oversized bazooka I swear I'll scream the neighbourhood together. Edited December 9, 2008 by Refia
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 (edited) I disagree strongly with the notion that a set should come right as you want it -- this is LEGO. It's bricks and builds, with imagination at its core. The set you buy is nothing more than an outline, a suggestion by Lego of what you can build. If you dislike a certain aspect of any given set, you are by no means restricted to keep it that way. I can definitely see the problem of parts shortage, but in the case of slapped-on launchers, I'm afraid there's not much of argument there. In fact, that's the very thing that sets Lego sets apart from other toys -- YOU get to be the one that designs the action figures or playsets you want! Comparing launchers to colors... doesn't work. If you dislike the color of a set, it'll take a whole lot of parts supplying to change it entirely, if it's even possibly. In the case of an ugly launcher, you just take it off. Not much of an excuse there, sorry. XD -Ikk Edited December 9, 2008 by Ikki o' Moopyville

Ikki o' Moopyville Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Stop by my place if you come -- there'll be brick-shaped muffins and Madu juice for refreshments. -Ikk
