It's not but the topic is about Technic not being what it once was, so I think comparisons to the City sets aren't far off as they seem to be doing there all kinds of things that used to be at the core of Technic while Technic has become Speed Champions with fake engines and steering. When I look at my 1980's Dacta sets or the 1990's Technic sets - they are full of System plates, bricks, whatnot, in addition to all kinds of Technic beams and parts. OK, there weren't as many Technic parts back then but. We had this discussion before, I know. I for myself will always mix what I have for technical stuff. Modern City-style as it seems. Best Thorsten No disrespect or disagreement with what Howitzer said, I also do not mind System bricks being blended with Technic sets. The designer(s) just have to have proper sense of using them inside/outside/front/back/top wisely. I am amazed by the use of system bricks used in the recent 42210 Nissan Skyline set and it does not bother me at all. In the back and on the dashboard they are used/mixed cleverly by the designer. They are eye-pleasingly good. Quote
Aleh Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I think for me I can descibe nowadays lego technic in one phrase - excessive monotony of sets Quote
TTFrA Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Quote Education set 45400 (I cannot recommend that set too highly as an addition to your Technic hobby). @Brickthus, apologies for tuning in late, but maybe you can expand on the above? Your reference brought me to look at this set (I enjoy 45678 Spike Prime for its simplicity), and I have most of the parts from other sets except for the foil elements. For which parts in particular do you recommend this set (I find the Education line in general overpriced)? Thanks! Quote
