Liam Biggs Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 This has been on my to do list for a while. Pity its black as its hard to see the details (even the front windows are hard to see). Quote
Feuer Zug Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Interesting locomotive design. The boiler has the saddle, but it still retains side "tanks" for coal. Nicely done. Quote
GrandPixelMan Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Your build makes it look a lot better than it is in real life :D very nice job on the saddle shape Quote
Liam Biggs Posted July 25, 2023 Author Posted July 25, 2023 (edited) @JopieKThank you. @Feuer ZugThanks. On my NER K class would contain both water and coal on both side tanks. @GrandPixelManLOL cleaner anyway. Yeap pleased how saddle turned out I angled 2 long curved slopes with 3 longs ones where chimney(plus 2 tiles to reduce the gap) and pressure dome are. Edited July 25, 2023 by Liam Biggs Quote
Supplement_Creatif Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Beautiful little locomotive! Not sure how you design but I had a similar thought designing the trucks on my last locomotive with regards to black hiding some of the detail. In studio renders the details looks nice and crisp however when taking photos of the actual lego version, the trucks being entirely black, the detail wasn't coming out as planned. However having said that, like you said besides the windows, we can very much see all the beautiful detail in your model! cheers, Quote
Liam Biggs Posted July 26, 2023 Author Posted July 26, 2023 (edited) @zephyr1934Thanks. @Supplement_CreatifThank you. So far all my locos have been mocked up in brick and I often find a better solution just after I place the Bricklink order. Studio would be a lot cheaper but my day job is CAD/CAM so novelty has worn off. Heres my original mock up not too far off the mark in this case(pity bucket dosn't come in black, 3d parts are rejects). Edited July 26, 2023 by Liam Biggs Quote

Hod Carrier Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 Another lovely little model that you've turned your shrinking ray on. You hinted in another thread that you're building British models in 8-wide scale...? I think that's a really good call as the scale certainly works better for you with these smaller prototypes. Quote
Liam Biggs Posted September 8, 2023 Author Posted September 8, 2023 (edited) @Hod CarrierThanks. Yes my primary scale is 8 wide. Certainly helps being able to use 7 even 6 wide for the smaller locos. @LEGO Train 12 VoltsCheers. Here it is replicating being pulled by station pilot over track circuit rail (too small a wheel base to trigger circuit for signals). https://flic.kr/p/2p1A2fw Edited September 8, 2023 by Liam Biggs Quote
