Currently Bricklink only has 1 entry for the bat piece https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=1766#T=S&O={"iconly":0}

Today I found out there are two slightly different moulds (that I know of), when trying to connect them to the 2L bar with stop ring:

One (I assume the old model) sits above the stop ring (left), and the newer one lets you press it down the bar all the way to the stop ring (right), meaning the hole inside it is bigger.

Also they differ in texture, with the newer one (again on the right) being more matte and feels more textured:

Does anyone know how to report it to Bricklink so a new, alternative entry can be created?

I've just noticed that some of my bats don't have Lego logo printed on the back of their wings - is that common? Can some of you folks check your pieces.

I've just checked out the ones I own (nine total). I have two with the Lego logo and seven without the Lego logo (these all have a copyright symbol in the place where the Lego logo would go). Can't check how they all interact with 2l bars unfortunately as my box of them seems to have vanished without a trace.

For what it's worth, I have seven bats that predate the CMF era and two that are subsequent to it, so if there was a mould change I would suggest it came between 2009 and 2010

you're a star @Alexandrina thank you!

I tried reporting this new mould to Bricklink but I think it won't happen:

Honestly that seems consistent with their policy. Some parts, especially those longest serving ones, have gone through so many tiny mould variations that listing them all would clog up the database. The difference in the bat moulds is tiny; there's a reason it took about thirteen years for anybody to even notice!

Yes, it's common. Most "molds" are actually multi-piece frames and not every item may carry numbering or labeling. That's the same as some items have differently located injection points depending on whether they are on the left/ right side or top/ bottom of a sprue/ injection gate. Nothing to worry. It's just one of those pesky myths that just won't die and people keep mis-quoting. Not every original LEGO piece has the logo.
