Moose Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but with the arrival of the trolls/orcs does it mean that the bad guy skeletons are done? Will/are their line of sets over. If so thats not too fair, because the Crownies still have the knights and normal warriors as well as the new edition of dwarves in sets, but the only bad guys in newer sets are trolls. Quote

Part of me says yes, part says no. Yes: Well, not many new ones, but the Skellies to still have a large amount of sets out there. No: They may have quite a few sets, but so did the Imperial Soldiers when the Imperial Gaurds Replaced them (and after!) Quote
I Scream Clone Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Well, and this is all assumption, according to the Lego fans who helped design this new castle line. There input was predominately used for the first year, then TLC took over this year, but for 2009 the fans had a lot of input again! Maybe this will mean more skellies, or maybe a new faction like elves, only time will tell............ I like the skellies, see my latest MOC but you can pose the orcs/trolls a lot more for action shots. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 With the following picture, I must disagree: This is the most solid evidence of the skellies continuing life/afterlife/reincarnation (whatever floats your boat). Quote
Moose Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 i read in another post however that the set of that picture (the skeleton chariot) has been cancelled Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 i read in another post however that the set of that picture (the skeleton chariot) has been cancelled Really? Hmmm, cause, I just read on Lego the the evil skellies were "sent back to their dark holes", so maybe you're right. Quote
MoonCheese Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 That's too bad...I wonder why Lego themes and sub-themes seem to be so short-lived these days. At least I got around 30 skeletons. Quote
JimBee Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 I sure hope not. When my fellow TFOL came over to my house the other day, he saw all of my 2008 Castle sets (he only has 2007, therefore only knew about Skeletons/ Knights), and exclaimed: "What happened to all of the Skellies? Did TLG kill them off or something?", and I thought of this topic. But I have seen one or two skellies in a few 2008 sets, but they are way fewer than before. My hopes are that TLG just wanted to get people introduced to the concept of orcs before they started to include both orcs and skellies in the new sets. Plus, there are still many Crownies in the Dwarf sets, so maybe the skeletons aren't gone. If they were, it would be two (dwarfs, crownies) vs. one (skellies), and even worse if elves come next year (assuming elves are on the crown side). Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 I have to say I think they're gone now considering the store at Bluewater had some 2007 Castle on sale to clear. Myabe they'll return to bulk out the other evil armies but I doubt it. Quote
Norro Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Well I hope so At least the trolls are built around actual Lego figure lines, so matter how much you dislike them you can salvage legs, arms, hands, etc. The skeletons border on the useless. I personally never count them as figs, and rarely need more than a few in a MOC. God Bless, Nathan Quote
Fatespuppet Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Whether the skeletons remain in normal sets or not isn't a huge deal to me since I have tons already. I agree with an earlier poster that they border on the useless. I don't like the arms and would've much prefered ones that had at least a slight bend to them. On the bright side, if you need skellies you can always get the minifig packs. Though overprice(IMHO) they are still nice if you are looking to build an army. Quote
iamded Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 But I have seen one or two skellies in a few 2008 sets, but they are way fewer than before. That doesn't sound right. There were no skellies in the '08 sets. Do you mean you saw some '07 sets still in store? Anyway, I'd like the skellies to return. I did like them, still have them on display, and was really looking forward to adding a couple of chariots to my army. Ah well, the Trolls are still kewl. ~Peace Quote

iamded Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 btw when with that impulse be out? I'm pretty sure that Impulse, along with the catapult one, were cancelled. And I'm pretty sure it was already mentioned in this thread. ~Peace Quote
