Brainbox Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Feel free to move this, btw. I just felt it wasn't minifig-y enough to go in the MCW. After watching the Series 4 (Season 30, Whovians) finale, I felt I just had to build a Supreme Dalek in the same style as Dalek Sec from two years ago. So, using the same design, I came up with this: Okay, so really it should be dark red and gold, not red and yellow, but it doesn't matter. It's simple, but effective, with the extra armour and three lights included. Here's the real red Dalek Supreme for anyone who didn't see it: Now, after I'd built that, I was thinking about something my dad had said after the episodes. In a passing comment, he's noticed the likeness between Palpatine and Davros. And that got me thinking. So I built another Dalek base, this time in black and grey (you can see where this is going), and came up with this: Again, it's not perfect. It's a little too tall, being slightly higher than my Dalek (making it the same height as a minifig) and the head isn't quite right. Davros has no eyes (but this head has no eye-whites, so that'll do) and a third/single blue eye on his forehead. The base is also a little thin as compared to the bdy, and there are no controls. But again, I don't care, as I simply love it. In fact, it's sat on my desk. Davros' favourite drink must be a cocktail of orange juice and vodka, because, yes, that's a screwdriver. It actually works quite well, the torso doesn't wobble around. There are two plates that hold it in place, but even without them it doesn't move around. The screwdriver was an accidental solution. I tried quite a few things (if you'll excuse the expression) up the torso before I found that this worked. Design-wise, this is a mix of Genesis of the Daleks Davros and Journey's End Davros. Plural Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Really nice work. Considering the odd shap of these things I think you've done really well. I can't hep think that the grey Palpatine head would look better though, but I suppose you worked with what you had. Still looks good. Quote
Sandy Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 These look really great, I mean really. You've really put some big effort into making these small packages. As you were concerned about Davros' third eye, maybe you could try putting a transparent blue round stud (if you get what I mean) on his head to resemble the eye? Quote
Skipper 24 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Cool I love Doctor Who! These are the best Daleks ever. Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Davros looks great! I'm not 100% sold on the Supreme Dalek, but the colours are very nice. I think it's missing something from the top though. I'll have a mess with my own Daleks to see if I can make my own Supe'. Dr. S. Quote
Brainbox Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 Wow, thanks guys. I guess you all like Davros, huh? did i metion it was awsome? Erm... I don't know. I'll have to go and have a look. do more dude, please do this is great everythin is there its great! I certainly wouldn't rule out more Daleks later on. Different variants and colourschemes, and the like. I can't hep think that the grey Palpatine head would look better though, but I suppose you worked with what you had. Still looks good. Perhaps, but like you said, I had to work with what I had. As you were concerned about Davros' third eye, maybe you could try putting a transparent blue round stud (if you get what I mean) on his head to resemble the eye? Perhaps. I kind of like him as he is, but I might try it just the same. Thanks for the suggestion. These are the best Daleks ever. Praise indeed. I think they're the only Lego Daleks I've seen that are actually in-scale with a minifig. Real Daleks are just under 6 foot, and assuming a minifig is about that, then any Dalek should be just a little smaller. Mine are, whereas most tend to be slightly taller. I'm not 100% sold on the Supreme Dalek, but the colours are very nice. I think it's missing something from the top though. I think I agree actually. I couldn't think of a way to get the extra 'torso' armour to look show-accurate, so just plumped for this. It looks good on my shelf though! Quote

My Daleks are a bit taller as well, and my Davros is about minifig height. Davros,Dalek. For the Supreme, maybe instead of the 1x1 plate, a 1x1 tooth piece would work? Quote
Brainbox Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 My Daleks are a bit taller as well, and my Davros is about minifig height. Nice. For the Supreme, maybe instead of the 1x1 plate, a 1x1 tooth piece would work? It'd be the right shape certainly. Not sure how I'd attach it while still keeping it the same height though. Quote
