the enigma that is badger Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Will has put one of his custom Chief minifigs on Ebay for auction: Included with the BA Chief: a silver MA5 Assault Rifle, a M6 Magnum pistol and a custom-injected, multi-colored Needle weapon. He also comes with silver frag grenades and a silver SMG Rifle. Here's a link to the auction This is likely the only time this fig and the needle-weapon are going to be publicly available. The fig may be also sold in limited quantities at BrickFair, but plans to do so are still very much in flux. badger
Tarfful Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 (edited) That is (simply put) a work of art. I'm going to bid, but I don't think I'll win seeing as it has 9 days left and it's already at $28. Oh well, it's worth a try... -Tarfful, who desperately wants a (BrickArms) Needler. Edited July 9, 2008 by Tarfful
Mocha Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Wow!!! The Needler looks sooo cool!!! hopefully they will be added on brickarms.com. BTW If you dont all ready know this... the bids are most likely for the Needler...
Dragonator Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 (edited) Gah, look at the price of the thing! And with 8 days still to go... But I want it so much!! It's a truly a beautiful custom, Will has done a great job with this one. Will this be the only auction that includes the neddler, or might there be a chance of more? There were an aweful lot of these figures on display in one of those photos, so I thought that there might be more listed perhaps... Hmmm, if I had that sort of money to spend on a single minifig then I might go for it. To bad you don't have a few available on the site for a more reasonable price! Ah well, we will see, if this is the only chance I'll ever have of getting the gun, then I might still bid on it yet. EDIT: By the way, is there a reason why the shipping is more expensive? Cheers Edited July 10, 2008 by Dragonator
the enigma that is badger Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 Will this be the only auction that includes the neddler, or might there be a chance of more? There were an aweful lot of these figures on display in one of those photos, so I thought that there might be more listed perhaps... I believe nearly all of the figs in that picture were created for sale at BrickWorld, where the Chief fig completely sold out (no surprise there!). This is probably going to be the only eBay auction for the Chief fig, although he MAY make a return at BrickFair. Will's working on a number of projects right now, and while experiments like the needle weapon are fun (especially as convention exclusives), ultimately he prefers to direct most of his efforts towards items that can be produced easily in large numbers so a wider audience can have access to them. To bad you don't have a few available on the site for a more reasonable price! The fig isn't so much the issue as is the needle weapon. It's made as a single, solid piece using multiple molds and overmolding, a very labor intensive and difficult process. For each successful piece created, many failures also result. It's for this reason the Chief fig won't likely ever be widely available as Will specifically created that fig to compliment the needle gun. By the way, is there a reason why the shipping is more expensive? No idea, but as far as I'm aware, Will never asks for more than what USPS charges. Best guess: given the high profile nature of the item, Will is including extra goodies (expedited shipping, insurance, tracking, delivery confirmation) that add to the cost of shipping. badger
Turaga of Force Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 I got one at BrickWorld and am very happy with it. I highly recommend bidding on it, it is definately worth the money if you can afford it. The Needler is so amazing and accurate, a must have for any Halo-loving LEGO fan!

I'm just sad I couldn't make it to the event. Maybe some other year, when I can afford an overseas holiday.
WisrthanU Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Although I was unable to go, over on Brickarms Forums they mentioned the price being $20 USD. This includes all the items on the Chief's card.
Jameseh Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Brickforge's MC is better but that needler is brilliant, I don't think you could do anything to it to make it any better for the size it is.
Turaga of Force Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Yes, it was $20, however it is definately worth more than that. Don't let it's BrickWorld price stop you from bidding higher--it was simply underpriced at BrickWorld ;)
Dragonator Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Well, auctions over now, and look at the price it went for! Wow! Will must be very pleased. I didn't get it. Right, now that the auction is over, can you sell me another one for a cheaper price? Please? Congratulations to whoever got it, I don't suppose it was someone on here?
