Merry Christmas everyone.

I'm about to embark upon designing another locomotive, and this particular one has unusually sized wheels (and, as a result), weird spacing between them. Unfortunately, I'm not all that familiar with the 'laws of Lego' when it comes to precision Technic.

Simply put:

Are those axles at the same elevation, despite the one on the right being SNOTed? And if they aren't, would it be likely to make a functional difference? (And if it would, can you recommend any other way to achieve the 'half stud' width difference that I need?)

Thanks.

It's a yes from me, although bricks = 6 high & 5 wide there be 1 more below than over on brick right way up. (Measures just under 1/16 inch, 8/127)

Other ways, stud into tube of 2×x brick.

Round 1×1 between studs.

On top of 1/2 round 2×2.

Use 1×2 tile with 1 stud.

also same but 1×3 & 2×2

Some bricks, 1×2×5, & some tiles +1 stud let 1/2 under.

O! Lengths not =, is this what you mean? The holes = midway between studs 2•5 + 2 bricks on their side = 4•5 instead of 5. Guess for circuit track. See towerbrickcreations website for 1/2 plate offset.
