The People's Democratic Socialist Republic of Eaststeinovania has a formidable fleet. A major component of their naval strength is 18 of the Type 99 diesel-electric submarines. Each carries a crew of 28 minifigs. The Type 99 has an unrefueled range of 12,000km, and can travel at 11 knots surfaced, and 21 knots submerged. It is equipped with a snorkel device, allowing the dual diesel engines to run while at shallow depths.

Here we see a Type 99 submarine running on the surface. The 2nd officer / navigator is taking a sextant reading for practice while another crewman keeps a lookout.

The Type 99 submarine has 6x 533mm torpedo tubes. Four in the bow, two in the stern. It can carry up to 16 torpedoes or a mix of torpedoes and mines. For mine laying operations, extra naval mines can be attached to the exterior of the submarine. Crush depth is 1,000m, and the test depth is 700m.

Secure inside a hardened submarine pen, this Type 99 submarine is being readied for a patrol. Both the forward and aft hatches are open. Additional deck plates can be removed to facilitate loading of armaments. On the conning tower, from bow to stern, we have a small radar aerial, a radio/SATCOM aerial, the periscope, and the snorkel. 533mm torpedoes and mines are on the quay, waiting to be loaded.

Nice shot of the submarine, pretty realistic!

Grazi. I've visited a few submarines and watched the classic "Das Boot", so I worked off of those to make this scene.
