[MOC] Blacktron: SCARAB

This is SCARAB. A Blacktron racer created to compete against the Neo classic space lads in planetside tournaments. Aerodynamic, x-wing and with a deep-fusion emerald reactor powering it. Look out Benny, you're going down!

Oay, honestly, I love this one. I immediatly recognized the scarab in it

The alternate black/white on the back, between the reactor and the antenna, it's this kind of details that make it not good but great.

On a negative side, I don't understand the weapons on the front if it's a racer, it moves it for me from a racer to a scarabstarfighter.

Ah, that’s good. It’s not just me that sees a scarab beetle in the aesthetic then. :)

Re the guns.. Yeah.. I know and agree to a certain extent… but I just love building guns into my ships. This is meant as a competitor to my previous moc (NCS Shorty) which also had guns…. because .. I love building guns into my ships 😄

Think of them as competitors in a death race. Then guns make more sense 😉

My only complaint - and it is definitely more of a nit - is that I'd prefer to see it with a green canopy. That was such a defining component of the Blacktron line.

I build freestyle with what I have in my parts collection, and one thing I don’t have is a trans lime green canopy. Besides, it was built as a competitor to my previous moc, this one below, which was a Neo Classic space racer and also had no canopy. Hence the whole ‘planetside racer’ angle on them both. Which reminds me, I really must buy up a bulk load of trans yellow and trans lime green canopy pieces ;)

Love it, especially the wings and the use of that (Bionicle?) piece for the nose. Rear thruster also looks rad!
 

But I agree it could’ve done with a windscreen of some sort. Granted, a helmet provides just as much (little?) protection in these deathraces.

Wicked design. The colors instantly invoke the Blacktron II theme. The build is tiny, with the devil-may-care attitude of a fast racer. Unless it's a really freaking powerful fusion bottle, I think Benny's twin engined deathtrap will win.

Pfft, these men are from the Classic space era. They don’t need windscreens. They’re made of titanium! They eat windscreens for breakfast!

Thanks very much. It’s about twice the size of Bennys racer, but his engines are going to be hard to beat. I think you’re right, Blacktron are going to be bantha fodder.
