Simon_S Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 (edited) You can find chapter one here: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/191588-meeting-with-haldor-the-master-builder-of-bridges/https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/191046-a-mitgardian-adventure/ . Now on to chapter 3: The Hideout Simon was on the run. He heard the dogs barking. And the watchmen crying. He run for his life and hoped to escape in the nearby larch forest. There was e small brook. He jumped in there so the hound would lose his trace. He waded upstream and came to a small waterfall. He noticed that there was a small cave behind the waterfall, so he went through it. All his clothes were wet. He was freezing as he entered the cave. "Who are you?" Simon trembled. He wasn't alone. Did he get detected? "Who are you?" asked the mysterious voice again. "Sss Sss Simon" stammered Simon. "And what are you doing here? This is our hideout." Asked the man again. "I'm on the run. They are chasing me. So I jumped in that creek so that the bloodhounds couldn't smell me anymore. And so I found this cave." His eyes got used to the dark and he started seeing the outline of two people. Simon told them his whole story, how he left his home to prove his dignity and then how he murdered Haldor and became a fugitive. The two outlaws, Ingrid and Stephan, were on the run too. It actually was a fornutate coincidence. Ingrid was a talented archer. She learned how to use her bow when she was young and when they didn't have enough food. Stephan was a thief who got caught and had to leave his village. They two were here for some weeks already. And from time to time, when people came nearby, they left their hideout and robbed them. So the chest they had was already filled with gold. "It's a good life" said Ingrid. "Yes, you can join us and become part of our outlaw gang" added Stephan. "We have food, gold, weapons and we surely know how to fight. Come with us and we get rich!" "Actually, I have other plans" said Simon, as he pulled out the stolen map with Haldors castle on it. "What is this?" asked Ingrid curiously. "It is a plan to build a Castle. And this here is my home. Haldor had plans to get military control over the whole coast. I don't know if these dark plans will stop by themselves or if there is a successor of Haldor which will be even more evil. I have to go there and take a look. And if they are really building that castle, I need to find a way to stop them and bring peace to our region." "This sounds like a good adventure. I would like to join you on your journey", meant Ingrid. "You have my bow." "And my knife." said Stephan. *krrrr* "What's that?" cried Simon. "Psssssst. Be quiet!" said Stephan, "there's somebody out there. I will go and take a look." Stephan came back: "It's just two soldiers and a dog. Probably looking for our new friend. Do we kill them?" Ingrid: "No, let's just wait until they go away. They will never find us in here." And luckily, Ingrid was right. The soldiers had no chance to find Simon and his outlaw friends. They went on and left the larch forest. So our three outlaws could leave their cave without being detected. And they went on to see if the castle would really be built. To be continued... ;-) Edited September 5, 2022 by Simon_S Quote
LordDan Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 Gotta love a classic secret hideout behind a waterfall I like the tree design and the use of the clear canopy as the waterfall! Quote
LegoModularFan Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 (edited) This looks really pretty Simon, I love that hideout, the waterfall with that cockpit and the way it transitions into the the stream and the use of tooth pieces for the trees! Great use of colors as well, I personally would have also added some small patches of yellowish green onto the lime since I love the way those two colors complement each other. Great work overall! NOD Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 That's a good and exciting story. I like serial stories with photos. Now they are three and the adventure continues. I like that the waterfall was built so the readers can see the cave. Of course, the cave is not visible to anyone else. Quote
Kai NRG Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 What a brilliant way to use those light orange tooth pieces! The windshield fall is very clever too and I like how bright and cheerful the lime feels. Quote
Exetrius Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 Delightful light reading material and illustrative images! Those trees are really good, and I like the path and stream too. Quote
jtooker Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 The trees look great - they make for a bright scene. Quote

Thank you for the kind words. I don't really have any yellowish green in my collection since I stopped building LEGO 6 years ago and just started now. There are a few pieces in the flower bouquet which I bought for my wife and I tried it out and the combination looks awesome. might buy some of this colour in the near future ;-). Thanks man! I wanted to use the windshield from the slave 1 for a long time as a waterfall and finally used it :D. also, the tooth pieces were somehow an emergency solution for yellow larch trees On 9/6/2022 at 8:37 PM, Exetrius said: Delightful light reading material and illustrative images! Grover Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 (edited) Awesome! NPU on the trans clear canopy for the waterfall. Really clever choice of colors. I don't like lime green much as a color since I have a hard time finding colors that work with it, but in your case, the orange works well. Rather than a spring green, it gives more of a faded fall color. Part of me wants to see a little more growth along the river where the water is, but I think another green added would make the scene look off, and the parts available in lime are limited. The rockwork looks good, and I like the uneven elevation to the build. Kudos on a good story, too! Great job! Edited September 11, 2022 by Grover Quote

I would loved to have more plants in there but didn't want to throw in another green because it would have disturbed the colour palette. So I went without theme but threw in some stones at the riverbank. I'm actually right now working on another MOC with sand green grass + a dark green swamp. And I have exactly the same problem that I have almost no fitting plants because all my foilage parts are in normal green but that would look awkward... Quote
