Creator set 31096 issue

I just got done building the Creator 3 in 1 set and made the twin rotor helicopter. After finishing everything I decided to turn the knob on the back to spin the rotors but they hit one another no matter which way they were turned. I looked at the book and they were aligned properly but still hit. I tried to remove one of the sides and move the rotor a hair but they still hit. Anyone out there run into this problem?? And if so what is the solution?? Thanks

Check that the moving parts are not too tight.

According to the manual one side was to pointed p and the other pointed down, which I did, and they still hit.

Can't say where the mistake was made but obviously something is amiss, as mine works perfectly, even after all this time.

Great set too, by the way, sometimes wish I would have picked up a second copy.

One of the rotors is rotating in the wrong direction. One should be clockwise, one counter clockwise. From the video both seem to be moving in the same direction.

From looking at the instructions I guess you should move one of the bevel gears (inside the gear hub in one of the angled sections on top of which you place the rotor), to the other side. (Building step 168). Let us know if that helps!

I don't own the set, but I regret that when looking at the instructions, it looks really cool ;)

I don't own the set, but I regret that when looking at the instructions, it looks really cool ;)

If you look at the video by Shiva both rotors move in the same direction as mine do.

JohnsLegos, your propellers, they should NOT rotate as in your picture. Morvayn is right. And no, your propellers do not rotate as in the video I linked.

Are your both bewel gears closest to the helicopter body?

Ages ago, I did a small Intermeshing rotors helicopter, but that was without any technic parts, didn't have any and not sure it can fit either. But maybe I should give it a try someday, with newer parts etc?

The only way this could happen is if you put one of the differential modules on backwards, easy mistake to make, check steps 170-172. Pay special attention to the two small bevel gears location.

After reading where you 2 mentioned, I pulled off the one gear box, the one on what would be the passenger side on an American car, and lo and behold, the gear was on the outside and not the inside. So I removed the box and spun it around and it spins properly. Thanks for the help!!
