Belloq Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I'm having a bit of trouble picking out which of these two sets I want. The shack is a bit higher on the price point, but it has s many great figs and accesories. But the Graveyard Duel has various awesome features and a decent selection of figs, so I am at an impasse Everyone's opinion is greatly appreciated, because I really need help Thanks in advance (didn't know if this belonged in Licensed or in Buying ) Quote
badboytje88 Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 It depends on what you want from the set. If you buy it solely for the figs, then I'd say buy the graveyard. If You want to make houses, then I'd say buy the shack. The graveyard set is better IMO. And cheaper! Quote
gusmoore17 Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 IMO, the Shrieking Shack set is awesome, it has lots of features and its building it's more less like the Arkham Asylum one, evidently with its huge differences like the chimmneys (2 of them), and the candy store which name I can't reply now. The candy store it's lovely, has lots of features I don't see in other sets like the lollipops, maybe the apples and cherries you can get them somewhere else, but that lollipops!! And also features Wormtail minifig, as well as the graveyard. But... when it was released, I couldn't bought the Graveyard set and it also seems to have lots of detail: the tombs and that magnificent tree with old and new tones of brown! And it features not only Wormtail, but Voldemort and a Death Eather! (but IMO the Death Eather from the Order of the Phoenix castle is better). The chapel is also a very nice touch! You can make your choice also based in which set has the minifigs you want or the pieces you need for MOCing, if you decide not to buy the Graveyard, let me know, I'm still looking for it!! Quote
Athos Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 If you want brown and white buy the shack. If you want greys buy the graveyard. Steve Quote
LegoLyons Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Save up and get them both, they are both great sets. Quote
Wily Manc Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I can't vouch for the Shrieking Shack, but the Graveyard is a great set - the best Harry Potter set I think. I've dismantled all the other HP sets I bought except for this one. It's got a range of decent minifigs, including the skeletons; it's got some really cool looking graves, that little crypt which is very cool, a bunch of animals. It looks very dark and gothic and reflects the mood of the scene in the book really well too. Definitely the Graveyard I would say. Quote
Shoc Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I have both of these sets, and they are both brilliant! I would say the graveyard set over Shrieking Shack though, the Graveyard Duel is possibly my favourite ever Lisenced Lego set, maybe even my favourite overall Lego set that I own! Wily Manc pretty much sums it up: I can't vouch for the Shrieking Shack, but the Graveyard is a great set - the best Harry Potter set I think. I've dismantled all the other HP sets I bought except for this one. It's got a range of decent minifigs, including the skeletons; it's got some really cool looking graves, that little crypt which is very cool, a bunch of animals. AFOL SF Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Save up and get them both, they are both great sets. I agree with LegoLyons... get both set. IMO, these are unique sets worth the price(s). Quote
Tom_castlefan Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Save up and get them both, they are both great sets. All there is to it really Tom Quote
SuvieD Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I have only purchased something like five sets for myself (not to sell) for full price in my lifetime. The HP graveyard is one of them. The shack is not nearly as interesting unless you really want those figures over the grave yard figures. Your best option is to get both if you can but it should not be that hard or expensive to get just the figures from one or the other if you need to. Quote
Matn Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I bought my graveyard last week, it can come in any moment now. I say you should buy them both: they are fantastic sets, but with the graveyard you just can take a baseplate and put the graves on it, so you have in no time a graveyard for your town. The Shack has some really cool pieces and the house is well built. I can't really make the decision: try to get some money and buy them both (you won't regret it!). Quote
Belloq Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 Thanks for the advice everyone! I think that I'll buy the Graveyard, since its been so praised and well-received. And, sadly, I don't have the option of buying both since that goes waaaaay over my price range (already spenging 110$ on bricklink, getting all agents, all indy 4, the RGS and the At-Te) but since eveyone says its so great, I'll get the graveyard! Thanks again! Quote
