Chapter 2: Press Gang

Previous Chapters

Chapter 1

Short on crew, acting lieutenant Palmer patrols the coastline off Wullham, scouring for unwilling hands to press.

Spying a local fisherman, Palmer assembles a press gang and orders them ashore.

Master's mate Jones, acting master aboard HMS Piper, leads the press gang, "Come on lads! Get the bugger!"

The fisherman receives a massive blow from maintopman Davies. He falls with a thud and Davies prepares to deliver another blow with his club. "Belay that damn your eyes!" Mr. Jones orders.

His still body is passed into the boat and conveyed back to HMS Piper, to Palmer's delight.

Well done, Mr. Jones. When he wakes up, read him the articles of war and add him to the ship's books. For now, get us back under sail.

Stay tuned for Chapter 3 where we will see how this unfortunate fisherman reacts to being pressed by the Royal Navy.

Interesting story that is true to reality. The scene on land is simple but well constructed. I like the ship with sails.

Very realistic story, although I highly doubt Corrington would condone forced service upon our citizens.

Love the ship !

Is impressment legal in Corrington?

Glad you guys liked the ship.

I was moved to immense laughter by this scene. It may be illegal to press gang in Corrie lands (I'm Oleonese and never stopped to ask) but I didn't see any witnesses... RP your black heart out! Also, your knowledge of historically driven details, such as the ranks you described and 'impressment' will see you well in these waters.
