I am thus using Cornelius Munz' Legiono running on ESP32s for controlling the hubs. So I need to expand my statement about the LEGO hubs I have (the 2 port City hubs and the 4 port Technic hubs): They never failed on me using them in combination with Legoino/ESP32. They actually did using the PoweredUp app on my cell phone. But I suspect this is a failure in the app rather than in the hub firmware - otherwise Legoino would not work flawlessly.
