Hello to the forum!

I have been building MOCs for some time now but haven't posted anything yet, so this is my first post. Most of my builds are directly or indirectly inspired by Back to the Future, and so far I have mostly done various cars in the 8-wide Speed Champions format.

The one MOC that I always wanted to make is the DeLorean Time Machine car from Back to the Future, and once I started my MOC building again, I immediately attempted to do that. That of course failed completely, and I moved to something else that felt a bit more possible to do. But every time I finished some other project, I always came back to the Time Machine to see if I could figure it out in a way I would be at least reasonably happy with. I also promised myself if I ever managed to do that, that would be the build I'm going to post.

So with that, here is my version after many trials. It's still nowhere near perfect for sure, but I'm finally quite happy with the result. As I'm using the Speed Champions windshield as the centerpiece, the car has no opening doors or any other functionality either. It's more like a standard Speed Champions model car build with as many details as possible, and emphasis on the look and feel of the car. However, it does fit both Doc and Marty minifigs inside at the same time, so it has some play possibilities.

The hover conversion is also a fixed setup (no folding wheels), to keep it simpler.

I also wanted to try out creating instructions and if you are interested, I made them available at Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-108607/firefabric/delorean-time-machine/

I have made other BTTF themed builds as well, and I am planning to post them in the future (or in the past).

Thanks!

Thank you! I have also been waiting for Lego to release an updated version of the DeLorean, and meanwhile trying to work on my own. The new Creator version is of course very nice, but it's on a completely another level.

In general, the 8-wide Speed Champions is probably my favorite scale for Lego cars, as it is still close enough to be minifig scale but in comparison to 6-wide, allows a bit more options for details and shapes.

Thank you, much appreciated! It has been a challenge for a long time and there would certainly be things to improve on, but this is actually the first version I have made that I'm quite happy to look at on my shelf.

Now I can concentrate on other builds, and I have published my second MOC from BTTF which is the Volkswagen T2 Bus used by the Libyans. Already had a little fun setting up some scenes:
