I'm sure we've all asked ourselves this from time to time. How do we get our mocs noticed? Sure, there are some builders who are famous enough that they don't need to really worry about it. but what about us builders who are good, but can't be noticed (self-absorbed?). How do you do it?

Thanks in advance.

I think you're asking the wrong question.

Eurobricks is a community complete with a hierarchy, cliques, feuds, and chocolate chip cookies.

So you should be asking, 'How can I participate in the community?'.

And the answer is to partcipate.

Maybe you need more than that.

You need to forge links, make friends, etc. etc. To do that you comment thoughtfully on others MOCs and participate in discussions consistantly. As you get to know the people here, they will get to know you and that interest will transfer to your MOCs.

Sure there are some people who are naturally great at this artistic medium of Lego but many of the best got that way by looking at other people's work for inspiration and bouncing ideas off each other in discussions.

Participate in the community and you will get views on your MOCs as well as learning to make them better.

Personally, I comment on moc's according to how I see them, if it's good and I like it, I'll comment, if I'm not a big fan, I won't. It doesn't matter to me if you're a friend or not. That's just bias. :sceptic:

I'm not one for that, I just keep it an open slate. I also always give a nice review, and comments, about how maybe to fix it, if I see potential too.

How alot of people get noticed, not just in EB, is using techniques, and doing things, people have never done before. Be original.

(Also, good quality pictures, is a great help)

I pretty much agree with everything Tohst said. To have MOCs noticed, first participate. Discussions etc. When making MOCs, it helps to have good quality pics, and to put a pic link in your sig. Also, comment on other peoples MOCs with nice critiscisim. They will then opefully comment on yours, giving you C&C. So just don't be shy, and make yourself a part of this community!

I think it's simpler than all that. There are people here who build great mocs, and despite not being that well liked, still receive lots of positive comments based solely on the work. There are others who literally don't post unless they're showing a new work. It isn't about popularity, it's about effort.

If I had to answer the question, I'd say:

  1. Build what people like.
  2. Take clear pictures.
  3. Post a well named thread in the right forum.
  4. Add boobies.

Really though, it's like anything else in life. Movies, music, books, anything that requires popular appeal. Create what the public is interested in and make them want to see it.

Alternately, you can be the starving artist of LEGO. Create masterpieces that no one has an interest in and wait until you're dead before they're noticed. Does it make them any less amazing? No, but it's sure a lot less rewarding for you.
