Before everyone shouts this should be in the buy/sell and finds forum, i know it should but when i click new topic there it says i don't have permission to start a topic there so this is why i've started it here. maybe someone can move it at a later date?

Anyway, I see the new sets are now available to preorder, shipping 11th July, I guess not long know until they are released in the UK.

So how about guessing the price in the UK :-) are we ready for more crazy exchange rates :-) then blamed on british tax

http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Leaf.aspx?cn=57&d=70

8293 Power functions motor set, $29.99 (UK price should be around £15) my guess it £25.00

8294 Excavator, $59.99 (UK price should be around £30) my guess is £39.99

8295 Telescopic Handler, $89.99 (UK price should be around £45) my guess is £59.99

8297 Off Roader, $119.99 (UK price should be around £60) my guess £89.99

It won't stop me getting them but lets hope Argos do some 25% introductory offers :-) or the credit crunch hits and the price comes down :-)

Anyone else want to make some guesses?

Good to know these are available, but this year's Technic lineup doesn't really interest me. :sceptic: The excavator could have been great but those linear actuators don't allow for the three degrees of freedom that you would get with pneumatics (like the really old 8851 excavator). The Off Roader also seems to be a far cry from the previous 8466 in terms of the mechanical functions, lacking any of the supercar-like drivetrain or gearbox that it had, despite being the same price. The new LED light pieces look cool, but I don't want to buy the whole set just for that.

I guess we have seen some great flagship sets for a couple of years now (the Bulldozer and Mobile Crane were outstanding, and the Tow Truck seems pretty good too) and there had to be a break in that eventually. I think I'll pick up a Tow Truck while they're still for sale, which I never got earlier. It's interesting that they still have that set but not the newer bulldozer, which has apparently been taken off the S@H site.

I just received the Power Functions set, and the new elements are awesome. The LEDs are finally here (to replace the old 9v light bricks), and they're many times brighter. The switch is great too, because it allows you to control a motor (or lights) individually and remotely from the source. These things are GOLDEN to me, as a train enthusiast, and I can't figure out why other train-layout-people aren't talking about it yet. An entire new world of possibilities is now open!
