Joey Lock Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I was thinking of making a Brodie Helmet: But Im new to Molding so what things do I need? Thanks Quote
JSN Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 If you don't mind waiting a bit BrickArms are going to be releasing a Brodie helmet at some point. There is a thread on th BA forum here including a picture of it from Brick World. No word on a release date though. Quote

I read it was a Prototype, So you do not know wheter or when it shall be realeased. So I was thinking of making one myself. Quote
JSN Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 According to this it will be released but there is no word on when yet. I can't be more help than that I'm afraid since I don't know anything about the actual molding process involved in making these kind of items but good luck if you try it your self and I look forward to seeing your results. tedbeard Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I saw it ages ago. I read it was a Prototype... Ages ago? It was only introduced at Brickworld in Chicago last weekend. Going by the time frame for BA series 3 I would guess it could be in production in time for Christmas although probably not in time for BrickCon in October where I know both Will and I will be so I could get some. If you can't wait and/or you can do it cheaper than $1 per each (guess based on $1 price of the M1 helmet) then by all means, full-steam ahead! Quote
the enigma that is badger Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Yes, Will Chapman does have a fantastic design for a Brodie helmet in the works: He also has several other British items in mind, including a Lewis gun which was also teased at BrickWorld. In regards to when the Brodie will be available for purchase, I really couldn't say. However, I can state definitively the length of time between BrickArms Series 2 and 3 is something that Will was not happy about (especially given it was mostly related to production issues he couldn't control). For future releases, Will plans to have a steady stream of new accessories hitting the market every few months. Keep watching this forum and the BrickArms Forums for more updates! badger Quote
WisrthanU Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Yay! Finally a close-up of the Brodie helmet! (How come this didn't go out on Brickarms Forums yet?) Well done Will, and, in my opinion wait for Brickarms's version. Quote
JimBee Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 well, to make custom hair and headgear, i personnally use molding clay that never dries out. you can use it over and over again, and its also good for sticking paper decals on a fig . you can find it at hobby or craft shops. also, i hear sculpey is good, although ive never tried using it. Hope this was of some help! Quote

Hope this was of some help! The Brickarms Brodie Helmet looks very fine!!!! Concerning your personal question ..... You can also take a look on: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/10735 To my point of view you have the following possibilities: 1) Wait for Brickarms ... 2) Buy a lot of kettle helmets and do some rework on them 3) Buy some kettle helmet do the rework and make a resin mold (please do a search, there are some pretty good examples) 4) Only to summarize my attempt for small number of pieces (but that's a lot of work and coordination!) -- make a 3d STL model for the helmet -- find some 3d printer who is willing to do some examples for you -- do some example pieces -- print the needed mumber of brodie helmets (You find some further inputs (costs, example, photos, ... ) in my custom Shako Thread ) Andreas P.S.: This week I expect the 2nd example: French Shako with pompon, afterwards I will print a certain number of shakos and present the results ... ... including a lewis gun Any hope for a baker rifle or something from this age? tedbeard Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 (edited) It was posted 22 February 2008 03:58:47, I call it ages ago Oh, you mean you READ ABOUT the IDEA of doing a brodie ages ago as opposed to actually seeing a brand new prototype unveiled last weekend.. Until last weekend the discussion on the BA forums was "we would like Will to make this item". Now it is an item "in development" so maybe you can stop being snarky. the enigma that is badger Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 (edited) Tedbeard is absolutely correct: the prototype for the BrickArms Brodie helmet was only revealed to the public at large at BrickWorld last weekend. Also, the idea for Will to try his hand at designing this item pre-dates the BrickArms forums themselves. That someone independently came to the same conclusion that it would make an excellent addition to the BrickArms line-up shows how useful and popular the idea is. badger Edited June 25, 2008 by the enigma that is badger Quote
