Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 22, 2008 Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 22, 2008 A few days ago there was a big fire at the house of my girlfriends grandmother. Half of the house is gone, including a entire Duplo collection that would be mine one day . The pictures are taken by a friend. I really like the contrast between the colorful Lego bricks and the dark burned surroundings (from an artistic point of view of course). Quote
Siegfried Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I really like the contrast between the colorful Lego bricks and the dark burned surroundings. I like how you can find the good in the bad... Any idea how it started? Quote
legotrainfan Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I hope your girlfriend's grandmother is alright! Sorry to hear you won't get the Duplo collection anymore since it is totally destroyed. I hope that everyone who was in the house is alright. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 22, 2008 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 22, 2008 Any idea how it started? This water pump was the source of the fire according to the experts: I hope that everyone who was in the house is alright. Everyone was at a family gathering when the fire started, so nobody was hurt. Quote
Tom_castlefan Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I'm very sorry to hear that, and I hope that everyone was alright. Glad you can see some good in it though... Tom Quote
Dragonator Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 That is terrible... I would hate something like that to happen to my collection... I'm glad that nobody was hurt. Isn't it ironic that a water pump started the fire... Quote
Faramir Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 God be with her, good thing she was okay. I see the artistic thing you metioned, too, but it's still sad to see someone's home like that. By any chance were there any MegaBloks caught in the flame? That would be nice... Quote
Corvus Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I really like the contrast between the colorful Lego bricks and the dark burned surroundings (from an artistic point of view of course). Wow, that goes waaaay beyond "The glass is half full." Man, that sucks. Glad everyone was allright. What are they going to do? Repair it? Buy a new house? I'm glad that nobody was hurt. Isn't it ironic that a water pump started the fire... No, what's really ironic is that the last house I lived in caught on fire because of a wooden fire plug... Don't know who thought of that... (Only damage was a wooden board) Quote
DarkYamiDragon Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 That is the saddest work of art I have ever seen. How many bricks were in the collection, anyway? Quote
cartoondude Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 So sad . A water...starting a fire? This is Weird. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 23, 2008 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 23, 2008 By any chance were there any MegaBloks caught in the flame? Unfortunately not But there was some Playmobil in the fire... What are they going to do? Repair it? Buy a new house? The most important part of the house is still ok. Probably this part will just be removed. How many bricks were in the collection, anyway? I never counted them. I must have been a medium sized box. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 That's sad to hear.....luckily nobody got hurt. Good to hear your girl's grandma is ok though, but it must be a big loss losing all her belongings. Give her my best! Quote
JimBee Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 im sorry to hear that . glad to hear your girlfriends grandmother is ok. all those bricks fused together... oh no, ideas are popping up in my head... ive actually done that, with old action figures. despite all of the warings of "dont play with fire", i burned off a pokemon action figures wings and while they were still sticky and hot, i put them on a batman guy. burning plastic smells really good though... TLG better start putting a new warning in manuals: a pic of a burning match next to a lego brick w/ a red X over it... sorry, got off topic... again, sorry for you loss... of the part of the house and legos.
