Hello all, as you might have seen I built a large temple recently for my Indy/Adventurer WIP. The link is in my sig if you wish to see it. Here is the second and final BIG moc for a couple of months for my Jungle WIP, a badguy tree outpost:

p1230813.jpg

It sits on a river hence the crab and seaweed:

p1230814.jpg

It is flat at the back as it is more for display at the back, unlike the temple that simply demanded an inside:

p1230815.jpg

I think I used up about all the light bley slopes I had for this, not much eh?

p1230816.jpg

Better view, not having a huge amount of good tree pieces I like how the branches came out:

p1230817.jpg

Other view, notice the spider web in the tree, and the way the tree has taken root:

p1230818.jpg

Back, I like how the long ladder came out:

p1230820.jpg

I'm not a huge SNOT fan but I love how effective it is for landscaping. Notice also the little box at the bottom:

p1230824.jpg

And the secret room at the bottom with one Johnny Thunder making the steal!

p1230832.jpg

Commie climbing the ladder, I love how long it is! Another look at the root:

p1230833.jpg

Better look at the trunk. I have yet to find something log pieces aren't useful for:

p1230837.jpg

The cabin, it sticks out a little but overall I think it integrates into the overall tree shape well:

p1230840.jpg

Side-ish views, notice the grey box and access way:

p1230841.jpg

p1230843.jpg

Now finally the top: the branches:

p1230845.jpg

It was so hard tryinmg to find good positions for all of them but overall I like it. Note the monkey:

p1230846.jpg

Sideways view with that cheeky primate:

p1230849.jpg

More overall views:

And a couple of pics of it next to the temple:

Hope you liked it! I know it isn't as good as the temple but I'm very happy with it still, and I'm glad to have expanded on the river chase set outpost. I have a couple of "minimocs" to be done but for a while this is the last big one until i procure more pieces and space. Thanks again!

Another great MOC Batbrick! This is very nice, and has a very good overall look to it.

I think my favourite part is how successful you were in the placement of the upper branches; no matter how hard I try, brick built trees just seem to be behond me. So I think you have done a great job on pulling off a really authentic effect.

One thing I don't get is why the seaweed can be pointing upwards like that above the water level. It just looks slightly weird to me, but it isn't anything major. I didn't know seaweed was found in rivers, hence the sea bit.

The treasure chest at the back is a nice touch, and so are the other little details like the spider web, crates and monkey. They all give this MOC another interesting thing to look at.

The shape of the main building fits in nicely with the tree and doesn't scream 'sentry!' to much, which is good, as he probably doesn't really want to be spotted.

Oooh, but look at that amazing temple, where have I seen that before? Gimme gimme gimme!

Overall, another nice work, well done!

Nice Outpost, Batbrick!

I really love it very much, and I will love to use it for my Castle outpost instead for the lovely forestmen.

From the top, the foilage and the leaves arrangement is very good. I like the different layers span across. The post is simple and good. Love the use of the brown parts. However, for the weeds to illustrate the fallen leaves required more of these. I felt it's lacking density (dense forest).

The tree truck is tall and quite sturdy in a way. The SNOT technique for your base is good. It will be even better if you do a massive landscape. But, I know the focus is on the outpost itself.

I guess this will be a very swampy area, since there are "sea weeds" and "crab". Ohhh, I almost forget Johnny Thunder. Sneaky of him to pull such stunt.

Very neat MOC Batbrick! The scenery makes it that much better, you may have used up all your slopes but it looks great! A very nice brick built tree with an integrated hideout, a great addition to your display. :sweet::thumbup:

I personally find LEGO trees to be shallow, but that sure isn't  ! Seriously, that is AWESOME, the best tree I've ever seen- I mean LEGO tree. I love the SNOT, it is as you say very affective in landscaping. Whenever I make a tree like that, I find it difficult to make the leaves look good, but you tackled that problem well. Good job.

I can see the forest through the tree! Nice job Batbrick, and a nice addition to your superb temple. I only have one suggestion, and that is, the tree seems a bit tall and lacking green. I would add some more leaves to this, esp around the middle where the guard tower rests (sort of like some camouflage). It's still a nice creation and I like how you designed the base with a few roots around the rock. I also like the use of the monkey.

Oh...yeah

Thanks, I'll be sure to fix that soon, its pointing through rock! As for the sea bit, there a LOAD of rivers with seaweed in them don't worry, and some do stick up, just not through rock like mine does

Overall, another nice work, well done!

Thanks Mate!

Very nice, BatBrick  .

A big improvement from the original tree in River Chase.

The wildlife touches add a lot to it.

Thanks LuxorV, much appreciated.

Thanks The Penguin, glad you like the Johnny Thunder part.

Oh go for it! I'd love to see your version! :cry_happy:

Good point, thanks, I think I'll include a bit more foliage. And thanks for commenting.

Wow! I doubt it's the best tree, but thanks!

Thanks TheBriskter, I entirely agree, for it to look suitable in a jungle it needs more green and shrubbery, thanks for that. Sitting on a rive I can get away qith a bit, but it needs more. Thanks again!

I really like the Tree outpost, so much cool detail! It looks great next to your temple too.

Yet again i will rant about Dark bley looking better for the rocky base (but thats just personal preference) Maybe a mixture of light and dark would give it even more detail :classic:

Thanks I Scream Clone mate, I like dark grey better too, but I have two reasons for not using it. One, I'm totally out of it  And two, it's on water, so I wanted a different shade of rock. Thanks again, I'll definitely try both one day!

Very nice expansion on the Lego version. I like how you've included everyone's favourite original archaeologist.

Thanks, Johnny FTW! (Thanks iamded for helping my find what this even means)

Neat. I like the overall look, and while clearly based on the official one, it looks a lot better. The tree looks real, with the foliage and such like. It's not too much, and neither is it too little. The spider web is a cool addition, and the rocks at the bottom (and the tree trunk for that matter) look very good, with some nice slope usage there. Another nice MOC BB2.

And the secret room at the bottom with one Johnny Thunder making the steal!

Oh, we all know the secret room was for me. You do know how much I like secret rooms.
