apemax Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 Hello, This thread is where I will be posting the mini minifig-ish scale engines I plan on building. First of these is a Napier Sabre, A 24 cylinder aero engine used mainly in the Hawker Typhoon and Tempest. You can download the .io or .ldr files from bricksafe here: https://www.bricksafe.com/pages/apemax/mini-engines/napier-sabre Next one I'm currently working on is a Rolls Royce Meteor. Quote
Stuartn Posted August 31, 2021 Posted August 31, 2021 (edited) Great build, an interesting engine, especially through its role (due to its unsuitability as an intended high altitude engine) in giving rise to the aforementioned low altitude strike aircraft. A Rolls Royce/Packers Merlin engine of the Spitfires, Mustangs and Lancaster’s would be great to see, especially if your going to do the Meteor tank engine version. apemax Posted August 31, 2021 Author Posted August 31, 2021 @Stuartn, Thanks, Yes, A Merlin is actually the next one I plan on doing after the Meteor. Quote
apemax Posted September 11, 2021 Author Posted September 11, 2021 (edited) Still not 100% happy with it but can't think of how to improve it right now so calling it done for now. Second is a Rolls Royce Meteor, A V12 engine developed from the Rolls Royce Merlin aero engine. apemax Posted October 13, 2021 Author Posted October 13, 2021 Another mini engine, This time a Rolls Royce Merlin, A British V12 engine from WW2 most famously used in the Spitfire along with many other British WW2 Aircraft. Feuer Zug Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 Nice collection of classic warbird power plants. They would go well with a museum style aircraft display. Quote
apemax Posted October 15, 2021 Author Posted October 15, 2021 @Feuer Zug, Thanks, An interesting option for them for sure. Quote
apemax Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 Been a while but I've built another mini engine, This time a Daimler-Benz DB 605, A German inverted V-12 piston engine developed during WW2 and most famously used in the Bf 109. You can download the .io or .ldr files from bricksafe here: https://www.bricksafe.com/pages/apemax/mini-engines/daimler-benz-db-605 Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted May 10, 2022 Posted May 10, 2022 Great theme, I like mechanical builds like this, too bad it's probably not popular enough for a mainstream series, like collectible minifigs. Quote
apemax Posted May 22, 2022 Author Posted May 22, 2022 @Henchmen4Hire, Thanks, Yeah that would be kinda cool. Quote
