Convering 10225 into 75308

Hello all,

I don't post much in this forum. I didn't see anything in the search function or at Rebrickable (unless I overlooked it).

Does anyone know or have they tried converting the old Artoo to the new version. Like if I have the original, but wanted to modify it to the new one, how many pieces are similar/what would I need to buy to modify it?

I was hoping someone else did it so I wouldn't have to do the legwork

The builds of the two models are completely different.  The old one is stacked bricks, the new one is curved slopes cladding a box Technic frame.  I haven't looked into the details, but offhand I'd guess the commonality is less than 10%.  Frankly, I don't think it's possible to modify the old version to the new version.

That tool says there's 39% commonality between the two sets.  More than I thought!
