MTBingNinja Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 Lego stickers are cut too short, frustrating. Wish they were cut more full size to fit the full smooth plate piece. I find myself preferring to put the stickers on at the end of the build so that I could align the stickers and “connect them” the graphics better. Quote
noahtheb Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 Yes, this is a big problem, especially on Speed Champion sets, which are especially reliant on stickers. Quote
MTBingNinja Posted August 23, 2021 Author Posted August 23, 2021 Ha! I just built all of the 2021 Speed Champion cars. Frustrating. Quote

For those ones where they need to be connected you really have to line them up carefully. Then you have that gap on the other end, which usually isn’t much of an issue........unless you own Diagon Alley & when you came across Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes & you have a lot wording above the door & windows. It’s obviously not very noticeable but I know the gap is there & I kinda hate it. Quote
dimitri_bricks Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 It's done on purpose IMHO, if your sticker is applied directly on the edge of the brick the wear/damages on the sticker will appear faster. Quote
Lyichir Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 I for one disagree. I feel like stickers would be far harder to apply well if they extended all the way from edge to edge, since any misalignment in that case would lead to the edge of the sticker overhanging the part and being easier to damage. The slight margin Lego offers for stickers is fairly consistent (I think usually around 1mm from the edge of the part) and makes slight misalignments less punishing. What does occasionally frustrate me a little bit is when the shape of a sticker doesn't match the shape of the part it's applied to, making it harder to align correctly. For example, I've had sets that use a round logo sticker on something with a complex shape like an aircraft tailfin, which can make it harder to determine the "ideal" positioning on the part. Quote
LegoDW Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 For the Speed Champions totally agree. Luckily they usually include enough of the original print that you can add it to they sticker. Example is the racing number on the blue Camaro. Was able to include the bits between the two stickers to make it look complete. Quote
