Tomb of St Axel

"I knew him, you know?" remarked the priest.
"St Axel?" asked his companion.
"Oh yes. Not well, it's true. But our paths had crossed. I understood him to be a devout man. Though it was always his size that people remarked on."
"I'm sorry for the loss," Monsieur Gallo offered.
"It is not a loss," Canon François countered. "I dare say Axel the monk had some trifling value to the Order, but Axel the Saint's value far outranks it."
"Oh?"
"The penitent man, embraced by the faithful as one of the true saints: a potent symbol to all Sea Rats that they can always find redemption and reconciliation - even in their final hour. Why else do you imagine I raised him to sainthood?"

This will be licensed as a small arts and culture for Acropolis.

I was feeling very guilty that I'd left Acropolis one build shy of its upgrade to the next level, so I've rectified the situation. Grey bricks were the only box I had available, so I worked with what I had!

Continuation from my previous storyline about Axel the Martyr:

Great story! And I love the rockwork in the back. Where did you get the pieces for the sarcophogus? Is the torso Hagrid?

Yep!

They're window frames.

That oaf Axel was canonized?!

Yep! I'm glad you like it. Feels like an NPC relay, which is really cool.

Looks awesome! The orange really stands out and the diagonal rockwork is a nice tough. Great usage on the goblets and window frames!

Great looking shrine, especially the use of the window frames. you may have only had limited pieces but you've certainly used them well!

Thanks guys! I was looking back at the Kingsport scaffolding build, and the thing that really annoyed me about that was the fact that I just sliced it flat at the top. Didn't want to repeat the same mistake here, so I just kept building up until I could finish the cliff face organically.

Thanks! A couple of weekends ago I went to a cathedral, and I wanted to try and recreate the feeling of a chapel within a larger structure. Not sure I managed that, but this is definitely something different.

Great style to build the rocks out unevenly. Well done upgrading the settlement!?

Thanks! Now we just need to wait for the confirmation.

Very nice shrine and great use of that extra large torso, but what I'm most loving about this is the way you're tying in storylines across members and factions - and I was always an Axel fan, soo...  :pir-sweet:

The short story/explanation is great so Olean too :pir-grin:

Yeah, I'm really enjoying that too. I think @Kwatchi set up such a promising plot line with the Black Bishop. I'm just paying it off in a few small ways.

Fun continuation of a minor NPC's story. I like the design of the grave, it's not unlike something you see for a king or bishop in some medieval or renaissance church. The ulterior motive fits the padre so well .

Thanks, that was the inspiration. Glad you like it.
