Inertia Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 (edited) Here we have another strange Blacktron II set, the Allied Avenger, known for it's bubble cockpit. A good view showing the detailing on the ship, it's an excellent, yet strange design, one of my favorite space sets so far. the cockpit looks strangely more neon green than it does in real life... strange... Front view, showing more of the cockpit and the figure... The set has 4 arrow tiles on it, two on each wing... I also wonder if the designers were watching Star Wars at the time while designing the wings... The cockpit open, showing the generic Blacktron II fig and the driving handles, sorta like a Motorbike... If a Galactic Mediator or a Rebel hunter shows up and starts to blast away at this beauty, the cockpit deattaches and becomes an escape pod. These pods are interchangeable between most Blacktron II vehicles... The rear of the vehicle, showing the rocket engine and the wings and such... not much else here... Overall this is a beautiful set and is great for playing and swooshing. I give it a Five out of five, it's a truly great set and is wonderful to have in your collection. That cocludes the review, hope you like the set! C + C welcome! Edited June 24, 2008 by Sinner Quote

Inertia Posted June 14, 2008 Author Posted June 14, 2008 Cool never seen blacktron before. Whats is blacktron? Here's an old catalogue image... I hope this helps. Hinckley's advise is better, here's Blacktron I and Blacktron: Future Generation (Or Blacktron II) Quote
I Scream Clone Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Thanks for the review, i stopped collecting after Space Police1 and Blacktron 1 when i was a TFOL. This ship is really quite different but looks cool!! Quote
KDog Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 (edited) Wow, someone who doesn't know what Blacktron is. They don't know what they're missing, but on the other hand is in for a treat! Good review, Inertia. I know what you mean; The translucent neon green parts really glow under the camera lens. It's eerie and awesome. I love how Blacktron II (and Space Police I, for that matter) incorporate modular elements that can be switched back and forth. The Blacktron II Alpha Centauri Outpost includes an extra pod and docking port. I love the design of the Allied Avenger, but I think one fan made it even better with an MOC of a modern version of it. I saved pix to my other computer but can't find the thread on here are Classic-Space.com! Edited June 14, 2008 by KDog Quote

In Space Police II as well you get those Prison boxes, or 'Persuasion' boxes, as Berntdasbrot said in his SP II Theme Review...I've seen an Ice planet version of this as well, over at Hafhead.com, it's pretty cool. By the way, the next review is the Stardefender 200, for those who have never heard of Futuron... Here's a pic. Thanks for the review!! Now do the base. I would, but it's incredibly expensive, and I don't have the money, we can comprimise, I'll try to get a Spectral Starguider, Blacktron II's 6 wheeler. Edited June 14, 2008 by Inertia Quote
CP5670 Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 (edited) This was one of my favorite sets as a kid, certainly the best Space set I had until the mid 90s. I'm not sure if they're intended to be used that way, but the two things just behind the cockpit are the space handguns from those days and can be taken out and used as such. The four circular arrow tiles are also quite rare. They only ever came in three or four old sets, in any color. I would, but it's incredibly expensive, and I don't have the money, we can comprimise, I'll try to get a Spectral Starguider, Blacktron II's 6 wheeler. That's a nice vehicle. The base is actually not that great, definitely one of the weaker BT2 sets in my opinion, although the ship it comes with is excellent and it has numerous good parts. I disassembled mine a while ago for my MOC. If you aren't going to be doing it yourself, I might do a similar review for the Aerial Intruder soon. I need to strip down mine for parts in a few days so it might be a good excuse to take pictures of it first. Edited June 15, 2008 by CP5670 Quote

Lt. Col. Thok Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Indeed a strange ship, but still fun. Thanks for the nostalgia! Quote
Brainbox Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I managed to salvage this from a big box of Lego I got for free recently, and I have to say I love it. I even made space (no pun intended) on my shelf for it to go, just because I was so impressed. Quote
