n1majneb Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 (edited) *This entry has earned 20 XP (x2 LTC Bonus Applied)* My adventures had taken me to Ruusan, as I skirted the mountains, valleys, and forests of this planet I came across a grand canyon of full of carved, giant stone Colossus. Flying slow, I withdrew to better look at the vista before me: Millennia old stone colossi surrounded me, gently being reclaimed by nature. The masonry and carvings being removed by the passing of time and in its place it was as if a blanket of vegetation was slowly being pulled across these stone giants soldiers. As I ventured further one of these great beings served to hold the waters back from the valley floor before it, an eon lasting cry allowed for a narrow waterfall to escape from its great mouth as their great arms braced the weight of water behind it - a great battle was being waged between opposing forces of nature. Who created these giants? The Jedi? I doubt any one would now be able to answer this question, for now it was just these giants and I here and it left me thinking... ...Just how small we really are in this Galaxy of ours. Spoiler My entry for the Microscale LTC. I really enjoyed putting this together and this stone golem now looks at me from the corner of my desk! To get the angle's right here required a lot of forethought. Therefore, the arms are nestled on 2x4 turntables sat on hinges which are then sat on additional 2x4 to get those just so. Similarly, the rockwork that serve as the shoulders/torso is upside down with a half stud offset and it's relatively well hidden mixed with varying slope solutions. With the colossus itself I've endeavoured to show the stonework that remains in LBG/Light Grey and then the actual rock as DBG/Dark Grey with nature starting to reclaim this too. The head went through a few iterations to get it just right but I think it works as the mouth of the waterfall really well, similarly the base of the waterfall I think works quite well. Inspiration, I'm a great comicbook fan, particularly of independent releases and one series I read is Seven to Eternity. You can read more about this series here: https://imagecomics.com/comics/series/seven-to-eternity Remender's narrative and Opena's artwork make this series one of my favourite series right now and when I read the panel below I knew it warranted an attempt to build similar in brick form: Thanks for taking a look!
