Sandy Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Half of me is saying "Go Lego!" and encourage the parents, but the other half is saying "Poor kid..." I don't know... I'm all for unique names and individuality, but what if the child will grow up to hate that name? What if it causes him to dislike LEGO bricks because of his name... It all depends how the child will take it. If he'll be ashamed, then the name will most likely give him trouble, but if he embraces it, it might turn out to be a positive force in his life. It could go either way. I could see me naming my child Legolas, though. Quote
Freddie Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Well, naming laws are liberal up here in the north, but naming a child Lego? Hmm, not sure if I agree or disagree if it's appropriate. I mean, I've heard people name their children after cars, items and astrological objects, such as Luna (Moon), but Lego could be a bit embarrasing if it's not supplied along with another name as well, such as Marie -> Lego Marie Henriksson, for example. Then it sounds better, and the child can use Marie if she finds Lego embarrasing. Quote
Zarkan Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I don't like the idea, honestly. I'd rather not see people naming their kids after inanimate objects - it kinda makes them seem less special, and might be a subject of peer pressure and teasing later in life. I could see me naming my child Legolas, though Now there's an idea. Manly names on! Quote
Commander Andrew of 501 st Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 This is rediculous(sorry for the spelling ) Lego is a cool nickname if you have a name like allegro.Haha that was my cat's name when I was little. But for a human being it just does not fit Quote
Deinonychus Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I'll just name my kid Stud So...wait...don't they have to write the kid's name as LEGO? And what happens when other people name their kids that...can we not refer to them a LEGOs? Quote
Karto Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 It could be worse: MegablockEnlightenTenteBrick... Fristname 'Oleg' could be an alternative (common Russian name). Quote
Pencoin Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 this is going to be trouble when the teacher says they must right there name like this Lego when they right this LEGO Quote
DarkYamiDragon Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Now I absolutely love LEGO, but never in a million years would I name my child after it! Think how much he'll be teased... that poor kid. I don't know what's worse, this or the parents in America who tried to name their son '4REAL'. What's happening to the world? Quote
bjboyle Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 At work I saw a man whose name is Lego Brick. I don't know if he changed his name or was born with it. Quote
legotrainfan Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 It is beyond stupidity to call a child Lego. That child is punished for eternity. Never ever would I use a brand as a name. I mean just use other examples: would you call your child Playmobil? Or Volkswagen? This is absurd, really! Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Mmmmmmm, I read about this. There's also I-Pod, Crockpot and Shreddies (I kid you not!) Quote
