I'm sorry if this has been discussed here before, but this topic just popped to my mind when I saw the new Agents sets. I thought that using pieces from the Volcano Base (8637) you could make a spiffing dragon's den, for example.

So I wanted to ask you: what special parts from the sets of other themes would you like to use (or have used) in your own Castle creations? I'm of course not talking about the basic bricks, and most of the hairpieces of the figs would fit any theme, so let's narrow it down to special pieces.

More examples of me would be that I'd like to make an evil jester for the skeleton faction from the Harley Quinn minifig from Batman. The head could possibly be switched with a skull, even. Another Batman villain, Scarecrow, would fit in well as the witch's henchman, as well.

What are your thoughts?

These are all good ideas. An evil Jester is something I never would have thought of, great idea! A lot of sets come with baseplates, and all baseplates make for good starts for Castles, and nice medieval scenery. :sweet:

Technic sets are great to build machines from for the Dwarvenfaction. I always liked the idea of Dwarves with axes and a modern thing together, but I haven't build something like that yet :sceptic: . I've seen a few steammachines on this forum. Also are aliens from Starwars nice for goblins and orcs, and the Indiana Jones and other adventure sets are also very good for caste mini figs and buildings.

A fair amount of pirate and harry potter minifigs are nice for castle. Also the books and letters (from the harry potter line), and maps/scrolls from hp, pirates and adventurers work well. The rifles and cannons from pirates can be used as well (late middle ages).

And there are lots more usefull pieces (animals for example) in a lot of themes.

I had the same thought about the Volcano Base when I first saw it...

Parts from other themes that go well with castle:

- Star Wars Minifigs... especially the pre-fleshie sets. Jedi robes make good peasant garb, and some of the old yellow heads are good for wizards (ei Count Dooku).

- Harry Potter for sure... lots of castle arches and such.

- Indiana Jones... some of the minifig accesories and the tree/plant pieces that are present in most of the sets.

- Suprisingly I find a lot of usefull pieces in the Spongebob sets... especially lots of brown and tan.

- Aquaraiders... the creatures and treasure can fit into the medieval theme (especially the shipwreck set.)

Hmm, yeah, the pants of Spongebob are great for another dwarf! I have loads of (old) grey beards, for the ones who haven't, they can multiple buy the good wizzy.

Nice topic! Really makes you think outside the (lego) box for Castle MOCs! :sweet:

I had the same thought about the HQ hat. I would use an old skull for an evil jester because I think they look kinda happy in comparison to the New Castle and Alpha Team ones. amused Evil Wizard ON!

I can't give you any specific example for parts that can be used for Castle at the moment, though, there are just too many that come to my mind! Almost every theme had something that could be used for Castle at some point. :sceptic: All the things mentioned above are good examples. :classic:

But here is one: the steering wheel of the Pirate ships makes a neat chandelier! Also, the new wind-up motor from the Creator Cargo Copter and Coast Guard Helicopter can be used for button-operated draw bridges and catapults! :sweet:

If I think of something else, I'll post it!

I agree with this, except for the spongebob part - having never brought any of those sets, I can't gvie an opinion on them. However, they do look useful...
