DarthsDonuts54 Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 (edited) *Your entry has earned 14 XP* I'm pleased to finally post my first freebuild! This is the first chapter in my sig-figs story. * * Hello, I’m Stew (really Stuart but I go by Stew (weird spelling I know)), and I am working for CorSec. I haven’t always been working here, obviously, but was formally a Stormtrooper in the Galactic Empire…. I was born and raised on Coruscant, that is, until my parents died. It was another routine business trip to some other planet, I don’t know which one because I never paid attention to those kinds of things, and something had gone wrong with the shuttle’s engines, then down they went, right into a mountain. That was 10 years ago now. I was the only living relative, so I got the entirety of the inheritance. Nothing too big, but enough to keep the apartment in the upper levels of Coruscant and to keep a nice savings account in the bank. I decided to deposit all of the money I didn’t use into the Imperial Galactic Bank (there was a local branch near my apartment). Because of the size of the inheritance, there was no need for me to get a job, so I just sat around all day playing holo-games. I also enjoyed watching the news, so HoloNet News was almost always on. Coruscant: The city on which the sun never sets. 1 ABY “Hello and welcome to the program. This is your anchorman, Nicolas Brummelstein. To start off: the quote of the day; ‘Those who do not serve my ends, no matter how powerful they are, will be eliminated.’ –Emperor Palpatine. Now to the news. Following a lengthy investigation, with support from Imperial Officials, we can now confirm that the actual cause for the Jedha disaster, the destruction of the Imperial Archives on Scarif, and the destruction of Alderaan was indeed the Death Star, superweapon of the Empire. We can also confirm that this superweapon is indeed the object that was destroyed in the Battle of Yavin, where many gave their lives in service of the Empire. It was destroyed by the rebellious militant group calling themselves the ‘Alliance to Restore the Republic.’ They should really be called the ‘Alliance to Create Anarchy in the Galaxy.’ Up next: an editorial entitled ‘The State of the Empire: One Year After the Dissolution of the Imperial Senate.’ How is the Empire functioning without the Senate? Did the Senate even have any power in the first place? This and more after the break.” HoloNet News: Your Source for the Truth. Brought to you and approved by the Imperial Ministry of Information. Sponsored by— “Those rebel scum. Disrupting the peace and order of the Empire, and for what? Absolute anarchy and chaos? Not in MY galaxy. Sure, I don’t agree with everything the Empire’s done, blowing up an entire planet isn’t necessarily a good thing—at all—but, it is a stable government that has laws and keeps order in the galaxy. And for me, I haven’t been affected by any tyranny or whatnot, I’ve just been living my life, uninterrupted for as long as I can remember.” (Patriotic Music) “The Empire; peacekeeper of the galaxy, protector of citizens, caretaker of your families. All this and more, and YOU could be a part of it. Join the Empire today and help ensure that peace and prosperity continues for years to come. Enlist today at your local recruitment office. (Now operating 10,000 locations planet-wide). Check your Imperial Citizens’ handbook for locations near you.” Furnished by the Imperial Military. “That’s it! That’s what I’ll do! I can’t do anything about those rebels just sitting at home. I will enlist in the Imperial Military so I can do my part to keep the galaxy safe.” “Take a seat citizen, we’ll be right with you.” “Alright citizen, what is your need.” “Hello Lieutenant……Kruddy. I wish to enlist with the Imperial Military to do my part for the gala—” “Yeah yeah, whatever. Sign here and make your way up the repulsorlift to the roof. There you’ll find a transport taking new recruits to the Imperial Military Academy on Corulag.” “Thank you kindly sir!” Spoiler A few more pictures of the main build and the hologram builds. Ross Fisher Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 A really neat series. The only thing that stuck out was the chairs in the waiting room. They could do with being raised by a plate or two. Quote
RocketBoy Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 This is really impressive work, I always admire someone's commitment to building and shooting as much as they need to tell the story they want to tell. That roof is excellent, all the scenes have exactly the right feel, just great work over all. It sacrifices some detail on those walls and all, but I understand how, when you're building something really big, balancing size and detail can be hard and those projects can start taking a lot longer than you meant them to. It would've been cool to have some sideways SNOT work and some use of small tiles/jumpers/plates to give the walls texture. But this whole thing--story, three+ builds--is really ambitious, I applaud it. Really nice work. Quote
Darth Bjorn Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Great story, and some cool design choices for the apartment. I feel like I've seen that imperial building/Coruscant part before? Quote

Ah - that makes sense. I was in doubt whether some of it was from a previous entry! That's just more impressive then... ;) Quote
dvogon Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Great build! The story is very nice and the scenes are quite interesting. As a suggestion, maybe some walls are too clean for SW. Some extra detail would help to feel them more techy (if that word exists ) Quote
