The Edge of Loss And Vengeance

Astrid Speccroix’s Logs #3

“I sympathise with your world’s plight, but there’s only so much I can do,” Lady Trairellas Tyfun, Architect-Queen of Atrisia, told Astrid as they strolled through the lower market district of New Babylon, capital city of Atrisia.

Loss and Vengeance #1

“You brought your world from ruins into a golden age. All I’m asking is that you do the same with Skye,” Astrid begged.

“It’s not that simple. The Triumvirate has laid claim to Skye,” Lady Tyfun pointed out. “Even if I commit my whole fleet, the Babylon Sector Patrol is nothing compared to the military might of an Imperial Remnant,”

“Please. It’s an outpost. A token presence. They won’t put up much of a fight if the CFS tries to take it,” the diplomat scoffed.

Lady Tyfun nodded, but before she could respond they were interrupted by a local vendor. “The finest antique artefacts of Atrisia, here for your perusal, good ma’am! Come and walk away with a bargain! I have vintage 5-TUD shooters, genuine Jar’kai duelling sabres, and an antique plasma-screen holonet device, once known as a ‘teller-fission’! And it still works!” Before anyone could say anything to stop him, he pressed a button and the galactic news appeared on the ancient screen.

“The galaxy is reeling as reports surface of the ISD Pandemonium’s maiden voyage over Marat V, known by the locals as Skye, and the turbolaser barrage ordered by Grand Moff Barthol that destroyed the planet’s primary spaceport. Initial body counts indicate millions dead, with estimates reaching as high as ten percent of the planet’s population slaughtered,”

Loss and Vengeance #2

Astrid blinked, staring at the screen in disbelief. It had to be wrong. It was . . an old broadcast maybe? But the dates lined up . . “No . . they . . what . . no,”

“That’s . . your home world, isn’t it?” Lady Tyfun slowly realised.

“They . . they can’t have . . how could they? . . . they’re going to pay,” she mumbled.

“Who?”

“EVERYONE! Barthol, the Triumvirate, anyone who dares wear that damn armour! I’m - I’m going to slaughter them all!” Astrid roared.

In the moment of silence that followed, her eyes slid to the long white blade resting, abandoned, in the junk shop’s bin.

With decisive motions she strode over to the bay and picked it up. “What did you say this was? A dueling sabre?”

“Why, uh, yes! It’s a genuine Jar’kai dueling sabre, a relic of the empire that existed on Atrisia -“

“I don’t care as long as it can carry an edge. How much?”

Loss and Vengeance #3

(So this is a bit late because, well, life. I think it turned out well though. Even if I am still pissed that I had to do it to begin with . .)

Nice build! The yellow guy confused me at first, I thought he was a giant crab...

Yeah I had a lot of trouble with superimposing an image onto the screen in post-production. In the end that was the best I could do. Eh, I really just want the build and the story to be the focus anyway.

Nice build! It definitely has a market stall vibe. Just saying, if the CFS could actually negotiate you wouldn't be in this position!:pir-yoda:

Classic "it's technically your fault we blew up a city, mutilated the bodies of its inhabitants, and threw them into mass graves" blame-shifting lol. We'll get you back.

Lovely stuff, Feng. The writing is sharp and lively per usual. #SkyeReclaimed. (I'm switching hashtags.)

No, we did try to negotiate with you both before and after. We won't reserve something of value to you if you aren't giving anything of value to us. It may have been brutal but we are the bad guys!

You sure are!

(No hard feelings, of course. It's all about the game!)

Nice little build - maybe put some tiles on the ground, but other than that it really works...

Now - The Imperial operation on Skye was supposed to be covert. That was why we apprehended anyone who tried to escape the system, and disrupted all communication (like in Ep. 1: The Phantom Menace). How did that ever get to 'Galactic News'?!? :roflmao: And the name of the leaders of the Imperial Triumvirate, even the union called the Triumvirate is not exactly common knowledge... I guess a bit of meta-gaming is ok now and then... ;) I look forward to follow your journey to Skye...

Lets see if the game last that long... :pir-yoda:

Nice market stall! I do think the ground could benefit from some extra detail such as tiles, but its still a neat little build.

Because it’s been two months.
Call it meta-gaming if you want (and in my defence I didn’t actually know the leaders of the Triumvirate were supposed to be secret, sorry about that.), but I never said that this happened immediately after your despicable attack on Skye. That happened, what, two months ago? Ish? I don’t doubt that the Triumvirate did a pretty good job keeping it under wraps, but you can’t expect to keep a planetary invasion like that secret forever. Eventually rumours spread, people go to investigate, survivors escape and spread the word - say that one in 100,000 inhabitants of Skye manage to evade your agents and escape (and honestly that’s lowballing it), then weigh that against a planetary population of . . I’m gonna say 2-3 billion. It only takes one refugee (or defector, there have to be a few TT grunts who aren’t comfortable with genocide) sitting down for an interview. You just can’t keep a secret like planetary genocide forever.
EDIT: Oh, also it just occurred to me; what about people coming to Skye after the attack? Are you just going to take prisoner every merchant, every trader, every bounty hunter, every tourist who enters the sector? No, I expect you’ll be turning them away. And then they’ll tell people that there’s a blockade around Skye. And when people start wondering why there’s a blockade around Skye, all those refugees talking about genocide will sound a little less crazy.

As for the tiles, I wanted to tile it. I would have. But life got hectic, I had to put aside LEGO for a couple of weeks leading up to Christmas, and I just ran out of time. Next time I guess.

Hell, maybe I’ll do a build showing who and how exactly your little secret got out.

Fair. If only the Triumvirate had retained the services of their best diplomat! Maybe then they wouldn't be expanding their colonial conquests with WMDs.

I would overestimate Fnab's abilities - clearly the vader busts weren't quite the hit he thought they were

@Fenghuang0296 I'm not saying it wouldn't get out eventually. Its just if "Galactic News" is blabbering about it, the New Republic would probably mobilize their armies. The only way they wouldn't is if the system is remote and insignificant enough, and the only thing they hear of it is rumors or hear-say... I'm just trying to build a narrative that could be plausible in a canon storyline... The Outer Rim, Unknown Regions, and Wild Space is vast enough for multiple atrocities to be committed without the 'entire galaxy' knowing...

I don't remember having a say in Fnab leaving? Anyways, we're Imps... I'll leave the 'diplomacy' to the mandos - they have a reputation for being super at that...

Nice little build, very creative and I like the story. I agree that some tiles on the floor would help its fit & finish.

I remember a time when my character's story got trodden on in AG. And then I went and stepped on goatman's toes in return. Fun times... :look: All that to say, I know what it's like to feel like no one cares about your character or story. It's important to remember that it's not personal. We're all building in a shared universe, so some toes are going to get stepped on. I'm sorry they were yours this time. But I'd encourage you to keep building for the fun aspects of it.
