goatman461 Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 *Your entry has earned 6 XP* Starting in the direction taken by the scout, I soon came upon a peculiar hideout in the rocks. The only thing that distinguished it from the other surrounding lava tunnels was distinct carvings above the entrance. I was quickly challenged and aggressively encouraged to explain my intrusion. It seems I happened upon a quite unusual couple. The taller, a Mustafarian priest. The shorter, a Vader cultist, on a pilgrimage turned mission to the bizarre world. With the planet's recent unusual cooling, they had been able to settle down in an ancient Mustafarian tunnel and they had the audacity to start growing trees on the lava planet. With difficulty, when I explained that the Empire was seeking ancient power on Mustafar, the priest seemed to know exactly where to take me... Quote
Ross Fisher Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 (edited) A nice build. The rock formation looks quite unnatural. Were you going for a basalt column effect? It almost looks like you're building in the Clone Wars animation art style... Edited January 5, 2021 by Ross Fisher Quote
Simulterious Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Yeah, the rocks are strange but work really well! The figs really sell the show though Quote
goatman461 Posted January 5, 2021 Author Posted January 5, 2021 It’s supposed to be dwarves style carvings in a lava tunnel, but I guess it doesn’t come through Quote
marvelBoy123 Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 The trees look really good. The rocks look cool but I have to say it isn't immediately obvious that they are meant to be carvings. Quote
Bociephus Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 As marvelBoy123 said, the trees are really cool. Your figures re very star wars underworld-esque. Great build! Quote
Darth Bjorn Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 I totally get what you're aiming for with the rock work here... It almost comes off as those hexagonal rock formations you find in Scotland and Ireland.. It's has a very brutalist feel to is - super cool take on Mustafar - I love it! Quote
RocketBoy Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 I love the way the rocks look, its such a different approach to rockwork from the typical 1x1 slope method, I'd kind of love to see an exploration of this kind of technique on a larger scale. It looks so solid and old, I totally get the dwarf vibe. And happily, it's something different from the typical Mustafar build, as has been said. Mustafar is a diverse planet! It's interesting! It's not just fire and dirt. Let it be known to all. Quote
dvogon Posted January 7, 2021 Posted January 7, 2021 Interesting build! I like the color scheme and the characters setup. I see the idea of the rocks, but somehow they are too blocky in the center of the build, which should be a bit clearer to focus better on the figures, to me two studs behind the same rock formation in the centre would work better for the scene. MKJoshA Posted January 7, 2021 Posted January 7, 2021 I like the subtle differences between the rock and the structure. I think it could have been fitted from one being in old dark grey and one in bley just to show a slight difference. Quote
