MokiDono Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 Hi, I am so terribly ashamed, but i must ask a question like this. If the moderators find this below the expected level, delete it, but i am desperate. I thought of myself as an experienced technic builder (have multiple flagship sets) but this set (Articulated Hauler, 42114) got the better of me. I had to build the gear system and the whole back of the truck (bag number 1) twice already, and i still havent figured out what i did wrong. First time, i thought i messed up the new differential drive train, because i left out on cog that suppose to be on top of the other cogs (sorry, if im butchering the technical terms, hope you can still understand me). So i rebuilt the back, attached the dumper and the front, and truck still wont move forward. And for some wierd reason, when the app says it swtiches to gear 3, the dumper starts moving up, and in reverse 3, it goes down. I cant wrap my head around what could cause this. Are the motors in a wrong way, does that matter? Did i screw up something in the gearbox? I left the round shifter thing (that came in with the latest licensed supercars) in its default position. I recalibrated the app multiple times. Also, when i attach the motors, should i be able to move the wheels and the differentials on my own or they should stay still? Should i be able to push the Volvo truck once im finished? Because right now, i can push it. Again, im terribly sorry, and i am embarrased beyond belief. But my fingers hurt from all the assembly and i just wanted a fun holiday break, but now im frustrated. Anyway, happy holidays! :) Quote
jorgeopesi Posted December 25, 2020 Posted December 25, 2020 I am so sorry because I can not help you but you do not have to feel frustrated, this has happened to all of us sometime. My advice is start from zero again maybe you have an issue so evident that you can not see it or you can show us pics and maybe somebody can help you. Quote
JintaiZ Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 I believe you should still be able to push it once it's finished. If a specific gear doesn't work well (which happened to me once) change it with another gear. Quote
Bricktrain Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 The orange gear selector ring meshes with two sliding rings, they both must be meshed to work properly, I fixed one that a 4 yr old had built and the orange selector was only meshed with one grey ring and gave simliar problems. Quote
MokiDono Posted December 26, 2020 Author Posted December 26, 2020 Oh my god, so i finally sit down and tried to reverse engineer the thing, and here is what happened. First time, the issue was the new drive trains. Forgot one extra cog. So i paid extra attention to that, but since i was building all day, i made a huge mistake during the second assembly, and i completely left out step 66... which is an axle... that delivers the power from the motor, while the truck is in gear. Jesus christ, how did i miss this. And its right in the middle of the assembly, so i have to put it together again :D Well, at least now i know what to pay extra attention to. Cant wait to miss something during next assembly. Anyway, sorry for the dumb thread, hope i can redeem myself in the future somehow. Have a pleasant holiday everyone! :D Quote
Wul Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 Glad to hear you have fixed it. I am at step 49. This step locks some of the gears. I have double checked upto step 48. I cant see any mistake. Maybe its correct and I should continue. Do you have any advice? Quote

All help is appreciated. Quote
Wul Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 Its fine. Its meant to do that. I carried on and its all working. Quote
u118224 Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 I’m waiting for Lego USA to get these in stock. After reading about these issues I can’t wait to get one. Quote

Have a pleasant holiday everyone! :D Please please don't apologize. There is nothing like an expected level of posts here. There are no stupid questions. Only stupid answers. And it is smarter to ask, then not to. Glad you found the mistake. Just reach out again, if you encounter any other issues. I'm sure there are some people willing to help you, including me. You might find this thread helpful, too. It covers some issues, other people encountered. On 12/26/2020 at 12:27 PM, Wul said: Glad to hear you have fixed it. I am at step 49. Do you have any advice? @lostinroy, based on the position of the driving rings, it is intended that some gears are blocked. Quote
