Batbrick Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 (edited) I like the idea of killing a non poster for the story. As for posting, I think my 7's were enough as I contributed, but i would've been posting more if people weren't just making it so damn hard to keep up (looking at you IS and Hinckley), I don't know, I can barely find the info I want to amongst callbacks to Mystery Ship and cheese or whatnot Batbrick Away! EDIT: Just incase anyone takes offense to this post, it is not meant to be that way, I just want to give a reason as to why I have only posted 7 each time. Edited June 21, 2008 by Batbrick

I agree with you Batbrick a posting of 7 each day is a good amount, enough to entertain and be an active member for sure. As for all that information you seek, i think you may well enjoy my first post... regards Cpt. PB

Basically, when everyone else posts enough to keep things lively, I'm sure we'll cut back, but when it gets boring, we go into natural "entertain" mode. Plus it's more fun to throw a lot of information out there and leave it to you to sort it out. That's part of what makes a good mystery. If everything presented is vital and important to the case, there isn't much left to figure out. So, as long as people keep making less than 5 posts a day, I know I'll keep making 20+, even though the number itself isn't intentional, it's just the way it works out.

Fair enough, i'll respectfully disagree, I just think that a game can have breaks or it does become tedious, and while this is a mystery, I don't think bogging it down with name calling really heightens it. And I don't think vital information makes it obvious, this is a game of tact and bluff, not blab. That said, I am having fun, and look forward to posting my fair amount of post in the next game. Batbrick Away!
MagPiesRUs Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Deeply sorry for the inactivity for the past couple of days, I've been very busy. I'll be busy for the rest of week too, but I'll try to find the time to post.
Dragonator Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 Gee, I hope I don't sound to tough on you people... The idea is for you to enjoy yourself and have fun, so please tell me if you think I'm being a M*g@bl%ck^ng control freak. Just don't say it to loudly, my dragon friends don't like that sort of thing... Please do not at all feel pressured to post. Post when you want to, and when you have something to say. I just don't want to be doing this if people are only going to post once or twice over a whole day. So post when you want to, but make sure you do contribute! You know, that was all a little contradictory. Yeah, but I think they get the message. As a reminder, I am also still waiting on those night actions! If they're not in soon then the next day may be delayed a little, so please don't wait around... Thanks!

Of course you are, it's what you're supposed to do as a game show host, move the program along when the guests are too dim to do it themselves. As a reminder, I am also still waiting on those night actions! If they're not in soon then the next day may be delayed a little, so please don't wait around... Hey, get back to controlling megablocking mode. They have 2 days to get in their night actions. They don't do it, they lose the turn, just like they screwed up the voting. Right Ragnir? RIGHT!

Inertia Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 About my activity in the game, I have an Urgent Business trip that'll go on for three weeks, so I would like to leave my place to someone who is willing to take my place, if that is okay, I am really sorry.

Hmmm, I wish you had told me of this sooner. My game is falling apart! If anyone out there is interested in taking the place of Inertia, then that would be great! Otherwise he might just have to have an... accident... Hope your trip goes well anyway.

I would've, but work called at like 12 in the night, the person they sent over has gotten seriously ill because of allergies, and they needed someone else to get over there, I'm on standby so I have to go. I'm really sorry, Conferences are pretty important to my boss... Thanks, so do I, I can probably get more figs with the extra pay
Dragonator Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 Update time! To make it easier for you all, the first post of this thread will shortly be updated with an index of all of the various topics relation to Mystery Castle. I am also going to get to work on a banner, I'll keep you posted on that. Thanks once again for playing everyone!
Quarryman Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 So, when is Day 5 going to start? I sure hope you're not going to wait the full 5 days that it could have lasted, at least I feel that would be "punishing" the players for being fast with voting, and when nothing happens people seem to lose interest. The two days for building "story MOCs" are quite okay though, but more than that shouldn't be necessary.

Agreed. Pacing is vital if we're to keep people involved. We're having a hard enough time with it as it is.
Dragonator Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 My apologies if some of you are starting to lose interest. I would love to get the next day up and running, but it is a little hard when I am still waiting on 4 people to send me their night actions. So I'm sorry, you'll just have to keep waiting for the moment, so there! I am quite busy at the moment anyway, and I aim for quality in these games. I was originally going to build the Grand Hall and Kitchen areas, full size, and have lots of little scenes, but you guys want to just keep ploughing on. So be it! I think that in my future games I will have the scenery built before I actually start the game. So, as you can see, it is not I you are waiting for, but the other players to hurry up and get their actions in! So stop bugging me, and start on them! Really, someimes I wonder why I bother! ( ) Dragonator, feeling particularly offended, especially after looking at the price of classic castle minifigs on Bricklink.

I would love to get the next day up and running, but it is a little hard when I am still waiting on 4 people to send me their night actions. So I'm sorry, you'll just have to keep waiting for the moment, so there! If they don't manage to send in their night actions they don't get to use their night actions. Simple as that. They have had over 48 hours to send them in. Having people using their night actions isn't (imho) important, keeping up the pace is. Sorry if I seem a bit harsh, but for a game like this to be fun for the participants there must be progress, and a complete halt just because some players are too lazy just isn't any fun (for the rest of us anyway ) I am quite busy at the moment anyway, and I aim for quality in these games. I was originally going to build the Grand Hall and Kitchen areas, full size, and have lots of little scenes, but you guys want to just keep ploughing on. So be it! I think that in my future games I will have the scenery built before I actually start the game. I really do appreciate all your effort with building scenery, but yes, having the large parts of it built before starting would have helped a lot. Guess everyone who's considering doing such a game should make a note of that Oh, and please don't think I'm beginning to lose interest, the game is very good, and I'm going to see it through till the end. (of it or me, who knows )
Admiral Blockbeard Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 I stand behind Dragonator 100%, And no im not sucking up, and no its not because it his Birthday, and no its not because he is from NZ and practically a fellow Auzzi... Its because i find his settings one of the greatest parts to the game, the photograph is clear and obviously well thought out, if it was just thrown together we would be complaining the game does not feel complete... this build challenge is good enough to keep even the best of builders entertained for four days, and if its not make it bigger and better!!! so, all those who want to point fingers at our future king must come through me! Bryron the protector of the protector of dragons! ((dont take too much of this too seriously)) regards Cpt. PB

So don't worry about us waiting for it. Do what you need to do, in order to make the game flow smoothly. Today is your special day, just wind down yourself and have fun. If anyone giving you trouble, rest assured that the Royal Guards will do their job.
Dragonator Posted July 3, 2008 Author Posted July 3, 2008 If anyone giving you trouble, rest assured that the Royal Guards will do their job. Excellent, very good... My evil plan is coming together... Thanks for your kind words guys, I am truly sorry to keep you waiting. Although the Captain is right, it gives you a bit of time to work on your entries! That is the, er, reason for the delay. Yes. Also, another reason for the delay is that everyone was up late grinking in celebration of their Lords birthday, so nobody can remember much past when Ragnir put forward the building challenge. Ok, I've run out of excuses now. I am however a little annoyed that I still haven't received those night actions. Very frustrating. I think some punishment is due... Thanks for your patience.
Shadows Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 I am however a little annoyed that I still haven't received those night actions. Very frustrating. I think some punishment is due... Wouldn't a great night action punishment be to do either their night action on them, or the opposite of it, depending on the kind... It's just the sort of mixed up magic we could expect from our resident wizard, isn't it?

I Scream Clone Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Hey Dragonator, Happy Birthday to you! Keep up the good work on the Mystery Castle. I myself am enjoying the couple of days break on the game as i have been fairly sick! So invigorated posting on!
Dragonator Posted July 7, 2008 Author Posted July 7, 2008 Thanks for the birthday wish, and I hope you are feeling better now. General update, Day 5 has started and also the entries thread for the building challenge is now up. Lets see some of those entries! Remember, the closing date is the end of day 6 (around 11 days from now). Hope you are all enjoying yourselves!
Dragonator Posted July 13, 2008 Author Posted July 13, 2008 Right everyone, Day 6 is now up, so get posting! I have been talking with Ragnir, and we have decided to extend the deadline for the building challenge to the end of Day 7. This gives you all one more week, so use it wisely. We want to see as many entries as possible!
