MTBingNinja Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Upset that they're not releasing another Speed Champions 8-wide series (SPC) this winter but I cam across the 76052 Batmobile which will fill a void for a bit. The 76052 Batmobile will fit nicely in my MOC garage. The Batmobile car is great as it's not "gimmicky" as it comes across the authentic '66 George Barris custom car. I am not a fan of the "cartoony" 70906 Joker Lowrider. Love authentic looking cars, hence the Speed Champions series, the 8158 Lego Speed Racer & Snake Oiler are missing the mark a bit too. Any other 8-wides that you guys have come to like outside of the SCS? Quote
westracing01 Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 (edited) I'm glad you brought this up actually. I just picked up the 8 wide Ferrari F8. While I really like the additional details available with the 8-wide, when you factor in the small fender flares and the mirrors it's really like a 9-10 wide. For what I had intended the set for, it's not going to fly. I had built an 8 wide open-wheel race car and built brick-built roads to accommodate that width. However, the 8-wide official sets just seem too large even for those (roads came out to 22 stud wide actually surface.) It's definitely a balance. The 6-wide work better if you're going for town layouts. 8-wide if building purely for aesthetics or if there is no intention to add the cars to a cityscape. If they can be held down to actually 8-studs wide then they can work, but the additional little details push them over the edge a tad. Interested to hear others thoughts and what they've come up with. 8-Wide vs 6-Wide... Edited November 29, 2020 by westracing01 Quote
