Ross Fisher Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 (edited) *Your entry has earned 8 XP (x2 for limited challenge)* Then, when we finally had a moment to breathe, Val Eldar sent me to Malachor. Told me there was something there I needed to see. This system is taboo for Mandalorians, and for good reason. This is a place that shaped our destiny as a race. It was where the last Mandalorian Crusade ended. Among the bodies I found Jedi, old Republic soldiers, and Mandalorian neo-crusaders. All of them turned to ash in a cataclysmic event. An entire generation; lost. And, after that, Mandalorians never were the same again. Some put down roots, became farmers. Others merely drifted from place to place. The name "Mandalore" lost its lustre, and people put their faith in their immediate family instead. I may have conflated two different planets here; I borrowed the story from KOTOR 2, where the planet is "Malachor V". The visuals are from Rebels, where the planet is just "Malachor". If anyone really reckons there are two planets in the same system that have both a Sith temple and a massive holocaust that destroyed an army of Jedi... You get to pick which one this scene is on. n1majneb Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 I like this build a lot, the single colour palette really works. Isolating Fnab from a moment, frozen in history. Quote

I've been visiting a lot of grey worlds recently. Apocalyptic dead worlds are really common in this corner of the galaxy! I got this palette from "Twilight of the Apprentice": I would've liked to use more black, but it's really hard to make it work in Lego. Either it's too shiny, or you can't see any detail at all. RocketBoy Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 This is really incredible. It's kind of a stirring moment with Fnab among the ashen memorials of a bygone age. I love how all your stories start as if continuing straight off the last one. "Then..." Quote

I wanted to get some personality into the storytelling. This is a guy dictating his holojournal after all: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/173968-under-the-influence-holojournal-of-fnab-bibbly-politician-diplomat-raconteur/ Quote
n1majneb Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 Collating the adventures of your character isn't a bad idea! Quote
Ross Fisher Posted November 4, 2020 Author Posted November 4, 2020 @n1majneb It helps me keep a record of what he's done and plot hooks, helps me write consistent narrative arcs, keep track of scores. It's pretty useful. Quote
