Bodi Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 When the operation reports reached Oleander admiralty, the generals were somewhat shocked by the number of casualities suffered by the landing party in the first hours of battle. The fact that a majority of the injuries intervened during the phase of landing made the high command to think if there's a better to transport the soldiers safely to the beach, and an order was issued to the shipyards to build a special-purposed landing craf asap. And that's what the Eltina is able to work out: An ugly boat for sure, but sturdy enough to do the job. The proposed class is 4, feel free to express your opinion if you think it's overrated. Quote
Darnok Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 (edited) Loving it! The rather crude design is perfect for a landing craft, and I assume you looked at floating batteries and other types of Ironclads for the hull shape? Getting quite some ACW vibes there. Well done! Professor Thaum Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 Rhaa lovely ! Reminds me the first ironclads of the US civil war... great job EDIT : bested by Darnok for ironclads. Quote
Fraunces Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 Nice adaption of the turtleship idea. I wonder how the sail on top is handled though.. Quote
LM71Blackbird Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 Nice ''wooden-clad'' you've got there! Looks like it would work pretty good against small shot. A 48 pounder might do it in though! Quote
blackdeathgr Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Nice one as usual Bodi! Safety first! Quote
Mesabi Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 I like the design @Bodi, and I think it looks pretty decent, though it could benefit from more curves and smoothness. It's certainly pretty unique on the Brick Seas, and I think it turned out well. Quote

Luckily they still have oars to propel the boat. On 9/21/2020 at 8:18 PM, LM71Blackbird said: Nice ''wooden-clad'' you've got there! Looks like it would work pretty good against small shot. The Neighborhood Merchant Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 (edited) This is great! I don't think we have seen any wooden clads yet, so what a brilliant idea. Kind of reminds me of the old style hulk ships. Terraverrsians are going to flee at the sight of this behemoth! Edited September 22, 2020 by The Neighborhood Merchant Quote

There are a couple of wooden clads floating around, as far as I know, @Phred @Bregir have built there versions before. Quote
