104thDeserteur Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 Hello fellas, first of all I am very new here and want to apologize if this question is in the wrong Thread. I want to customize my first clone trooper ever and i saw a lot good customizes here so i hope you can help me. The Decal i wanna use is from AVminifigs. i want to let my clone wear an rangefinder from CAC, so it has to have these holes on the side Here is the question. Which website offeres the best normal Blanc Clone trooper phase 2 helmet which is predrilled. I´ve read a little bit about resin and ABS but it confused me a lot and i hope your experience is better than my knowlege. CAC sells one for 2 Dollars and they use ABS AVminifig normally sells resin helmets but in the description they say it is possible that the helmet isn´t that kind of quality which normal lego helmets are. Jonaktoys sells them for 6 Dollars (pre-drilled) and they use resin 510 i dont know about arealight. swfanatics also sells them. these are just a few i found in 24 hour. I am sure u know a lot more. In this special case price isnt the problem i just want to make ONE special clone. but this one should be looking damn good=D and it should live long... it should just be like an normal Lego clone helmet just blank and with the holes^^ Thank you for your time and Help Quote
MAB Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 It doesn't really matter if it is resin or ABS, the decal should affix equally well. I'd be tempted to go with the Clone Army Customs one if you are using a CAC rangefinder as this will guarantee a perfect fit of the rangefinder in the helmet hole. Quote

Hope I'm not too late here to give you a few suggestions. Resin helemts are helmets casted with resin. They arent as good as inj moulded ones from my experience and can be a little more difficult to get the decal to stick. If you need helmets, I'd recommend getting official p2 helmets since they're the best quality, however they are pricey. The next alternative is to use the AVfigures casts, they may need a little cleaning up and may be loose sometimes. Same thing goes with Jonak and Fanatic helmets which both resell Forge510 casts and are around the same as AV ones. It is also quite easy to drill rangefinder holes, with just a 0.4 mm handdrill. You can also use the new cac RP2 helmet for realistic, or Arealight for animated decals, however I think arealight will need decal modifications if you want to do full cover decals such as doom or fox. However, I believe AVFigures is planning to launch injection moulded helmets that will replace their casts quite soon and it will be the same quality as legos but much cheaper. Hope this helps. Would be happy to answer any more questions you have. Quote
