Klaus-Dieter Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 (edited) Hello everybody! Since Lego is asking us whether we want Robots, Animals or Wild West as a new Lego.Factory theme I chose to design another WW MOC with LDD to show TLG and you how nice some WW MOCs could get even now with only limited possibilities : Max's General Store Item #: LFH002 Pieces: 191 Price: 32,51 (Not really cheap but quite ok I think for a two floor big building, a horse, four minifigs and some nice additional stuff!) Max's General Store is a place where the cowboys stop on their way to buy food, munitions and many other things. And if somebody is ill, Doctor Miller who lives upstairs can help. This set includes Max's General Store with a lot of nice stuff, Dr. Miller's office upstairs, a horse, four minifigs ... Link to Lego.Factory: Max's General Store Comments are welcome! BTW: I designed some Chost Cowboys, too. You can find them at Lego.Factory when you enter the usename Klaus-Dieter - but they aren't so good so I chose not to show them to you here on EB . bLEGOnder Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Looks nice! The basic idea is very good. Perhaps you could build another model with an angular roof and other fences (I don't think that they fit). Moreover, it would be better if the minifigs have got real guns. I know that this is a problem which can't be solved in LDD because you don't have these pieces there. You could build a better model perhaps with LDraw (see signature >> You can export your model in LDD and modify it in MLCAD !). This would grade up your model very much. But it looks quite good if you bear in mind that it's your second CAD LEGO model! The model looks fairly alike my western house I didn't present by now (not enouch attachment space) which can be seen in my avatar. Keep it up! Quote
Asuka Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 A neat work, especially with the stairs to the upper floor, only that single white fence piece at the boardwalk may look a bit unnecessary.... Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Nice model, I like the say it's sort of a mix of Wild West but with a classic feel as with your first model it's like the original yellow castle in that respect. I'd love to see it built with decals. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 (edited) Thank you all very much for your nice comments! Perhaps TLG wants it/them for their new Factory theme - and then we'll get them with decals, a "real" horse, "real" hats, "real" guns and revolvers and nice looking torsos! No, all jokes aside - I agree with you, Cardinal Brick, and think it would look with decals of course much better, too. A neat work, especially with the stairs to the upper floor, only that single white fence piece at the boardwalk may look a bit unnecessary.... Yes, Asuka, I wasn't sure about if I shall put it there or not, too. Perhaps you could build another model with an angular roof and other fences (I don't think that they fit). That was exactly my idea, too. I tried it but in LDD the hinges can't be fold down . Klaus-Dieter Edited May 26, 2008 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Nice job KD. I really like the stairs on the right side of the building. I like to use this concept for WW buildings (an idea I got from Playmobil). Tan is a nice color for the structure, although with some details (like a sign - which I understand that you can't add to a digital design), it would look much better. The nice details inside compliment the overall design. My only bit of constructive critisism is the horse. It's too large and bulky. Take a look at the old Yellow Castle (#375) for a simple, brick-built design. Here's one in this image, although it's hard to see. I'm sure you can find some scanned instructions that show you the build. You're becoming very good at these digital designs. Do you plan to build some, or order parts to actually make them? Quote

Thank you very much for your nice comment, TheBrickster! No, momentary I don't plan to actually make them into "real" WW MOCs. I hope that TLG will release some Lego.Factory WW sets soon - and then my LDD MOCs aren't necessary any longer since they should mainly only inspire. But if we don't get some WW sets - what I really, really don't hope - I perhaps would order the bricks and build these two sets. Perhaps I'll build a "Haunted Mine" (I think you already invented this name, didn't you?! ) via LDD - but let's see. At all events I wanted to design a stage coach - but it is much too difficult .
