nordes Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 (edited) Hello Everyone, I'm new to Eurobricks, so let me present my first ever LEGO car design, which is a 1:13 scale model of the iconic Land Rover Series II 88" from 1958. The design was made using Studio 2.0. Originally I wanted to build this car in an authentic Land Rover colour (LEGO colours sand blue/green or dark red/green), but many parts are unavailable, and therefore this remains a dream. Luckily, all parts are available in red, and therefore the model can be built. The model fits in the Creator Expert car series. It consists of 1477 parts, the doors and the hood can be opened. I designed some custom decals (front grill and dashboard) to capture some characteristic features of the car. Most of the chassis is built in an unusual way, which made possible to build a smooth curved lower edge. The canvas holding frame is easily removable, and you can find a simple engine under the hood. Oliver 79 Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 That's a lot of SNOT! Very nice Indeed. Do you plan on making it in real life? Could you possibly show us a picture of how you constructed the bonnet (hood), those angles look tricky.... Quote
MinusAndy Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 Wow! Absolutely fantastic model of a proper Land Rover. Quote
Sven J Posted July 6, 2020 Posted July 6, 2020 This is incredibly well done! Please build it in real bricks! Quote

nordes Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 So here are some rendered images about the construction of the bonnet. I'm waiting for the last 10 pieces to finish the car in real life! I've fixed some minor constructional issues (illegal builds mostly). Despite this insane amount of S.N.O.T., the structural integrity of the car is excellent. Quote
Oliver 79 Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Clever construction there. Those 2x1 rounded plates come in very handy. Looking forward to seeing it built in real life. Quote
nordes Posted August 8, 2020 Author Posted August 8, 2020 (edited) The car is done, this is how it looks like before the decals. Edited August 8, 2020 by nordes Quote
Sven J Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 This is a truly outstanding job! (Even though the steering wheel is on the wrong side ) Simply the most realistic LEGO car replica i've seen so far. You really should consider uploading the file to Rebrickable. I'd definitely buy it. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 This model is like the real one ...great work and amazing details (engine, pedals, gear lever and rear-view mirrors) Quote
ludov Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Wow, that is absolutely beautifully done! Just love those old Defenders and this is an excellent representation. Well done! Quote
Oliver 79 Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 It looks great! Even better in real life Did you have to change any bits from the original digital design, or did it all work? I'd love to have a look at the Studio file. Quote

Hello Oliver, I needed to change minor things at 3 places, but all invisible. I decided to change the bottom part of the engine a bit, also removed some unnecessary things around it. The S.N.O.T. constructions worked just fine, the car is massive. I'm working on a new model at the moment, so I'll generate instructions later. Quote
proran Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 (edited) This is just jaw-dropping awesome! It is not often you see such level of details in the cabin, down to the pedal levers!! All these less-than-a-plate lines in the bodywork just make me smile. Incredible SNOT'ness. I cannot force myself to build an off-order without working suspension and driveline (with all sort of compromises on the looks), but on that one it feels right, staying true to the Creator Expert line. Really nice work. I rarely build other's MOCs, but here I would put +1 to the idea of putting it on the Rebrickable. I don't think we will see the proper Defender from TLG anytime soon. Stimy Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 let us know when the instructions are ready, love to buy these!! Quote
bonox Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 What lovely memories of my '71 IIA. The coloured knobs on the levers triggered thoughts of lots of fun times. Mine were much more faded though. I too would love to invest in your instructions if you choose to make them. Great model; well done! Quote
