Almost two years ago...

As Yngvi, Erik and Irissa travel west towards Thorshaven, Irissa has began to train Yngvi in swordcraft. As a young cyclops, Irissa was trained by a Elven fencing master; albeit one with a slightly twisted sense of humour. Cyclopes are not a race known for their grace and agility; far from it, the common stereotype of a cyclops will always be one of a heavy handed brute. So to take a young cyclops and through years of training turn her into a master swordsmen... this amused the Elven master greatly.

Yngvi himself has never been a swordsmen. The mighty Mitgardian battle axe is his preferred weapon in the brutal shield-wall fighting he is accustomed to. He has always wanted to learn and admires those he served with the the fyrd who do have the skill. So early every morning before breaking camp, he spars with Irissa. Although he expected her to concentrate on teaching him sword techniques, he is surprised that she equally focuses on speed, balance and agility. Thus the forests of southwestern Mitgardia provide an excellent training ground as the pair almost dance over fallen logs and rocky outcrops. It is a hard, exhausting start to each already long day, but Yngvi feels it will be worth it in the end.

So after almost a year and a half I am attempting to restart Yngvi's story! Just a quick AoM build to try and get back into GoH building. Tried out a new tree trunk technique from here. Hopefully some more coming soon!

Gorgeous landscape! The fallen trunk, standing tree and spine bush all look great and are perfectly integrated in the rocky terrain. Nice place for sword training, really. I'm looking forward to the next adventures of Yngvi!

Nice job on the fallen tree!  A few green plates to imitate moss might have made it look even more natural.  The blend of green leaves on the standing tree looks great though!

Such a nice little MOC.

I remember the days my sister taught me to parry and deliver blows with a wooden sword in the cold forests of Mitgardia. The mud, the wind, the animals passing by...
Beautiful work with the trees and trunks.

Can't wait to hear more of Yngvi stories.

Cheers!

Nice landscaping, I like the two trees.  Very nice rock work and plant coverage on the ground.  The fallen log looks good.  Your figs are very nice too.

Very nice use of the foliage pieces here, and the rockwork is very nice.  The tree trunk is interesting, although I have a hard time seeing the trunk itself for the 1x2 rasterization of it.  I like the technique, though.  It looks good on the upright tree.  I hope the people sparring have some good balance though, it looks like some treacherous footing!  Nice work!
