antokid Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Hi, i am a new member from Ireland, this is my 1st post so hello everyone. I am trying to automate a prototype i am designing for industry so thought i could find some help here. Thanks in advance. I need to achieve the following, please let me know if this is achievable with lego technic. Once a switch is made a motor will then start and travel a set linear distance of between 20-300mm then return and stop. The motor would likely need to be clutched in case of any resistance, the motor speed would also need to be variable. I have seen rack and pinion which looks the best option, the switches, motor, gearing, power supply involved i`m not sure about. I am very new to technic so forgive me for being a novice. thanks Quote
Jurss Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Search for lego useless box, there could be needed principle of mechanism. Most are made using Mindstroms, not just simple mechanism. But for return some spring (pullback motor) or similar thing could be used. I once had this kind of prototype with pneumatics Quote
