Note: This is not a TC18 project!

After I finished tweaking Miss Butterfly's Hot Rod, I thought of another challenge: packing PF functions into an RC car that would fit in the lower deck of 42098. This is what I came up with:

y4mLxKR7aY3ejxBsGMIk7L76YilfyVpvzJS5ApTk
y4mEnyv8I8Shvy0uhX7TdaECdGKbEMna93dG4n88

With very limited parts at disposal, the idea was not to replicate an existing model or build something refined. The focus was, as it most of the time is for me, on features and structure. I then try to make the most of what I have at hand so that the thing looks nice.

It is quite nicely packed, features Ackermann steering and live rear axle with differential. Those 2 L motors are more than enough to make the thing move!

Cheers!

This could be a new Euro bricks Sport, but I love to see a "Dukes of Hazard" style jump over the transporter...

It would take better suspension than just a live rear axle and certainly more speed than this can achieve, but I like the idea! :pir-laugh:

With two Large Lego motors, you got the speed!!! you just need to gear the output for speed..

The belly shot is eloquent: the only gear connection that may be swapped without consequent rebuilding is already in "speed" mode, isn't it?

From basing from my own records using http://gears.sariel.pl/

The total final gear ratio is 1:2.143
The speed is increased 2.143 times.
The torque is decreased 2.143 times.
The follower gear rotates 2.143 times per each revolution of the driver gear.

and proof

Wtf? Mentioning Sariel's good, actually understanding what it's about is better..

From the motor on, we have: 12t on 12t: 1:1, 20t on 12t: 5/3=1:1.67, 20 on 28(diff.): 5/7=1:0.714, total=5/3 * 5/7 = 25/21 = 1:1.19.

And if we care about vehicle speed, the size of the wheels is important too. The wheels of the vehicle in your clip are different from mine. I'm pretty sure the gearing is different too, since it appears to have been shot beforehand. Moreover, it's hard to have any idea of what speed the vehicle can go since it's basically going to and fro. And let's not talk about the potato quality...

All in all, I really don't know what you're trying to prove here.

If your point is 2L motors should be enough to achieve the required velocity for a balistic trajectory over 42098, I'd say most likely yes, but it remains to be demonstrated. My point is this topic's vehicle won't do it as is, nor with a slight gear swap.

Seems fast enough for indoors. Whilst not a TC18 entry did you try and keep to the size and tyre limits? I might have a go myself.

Yep, it's designed for indoors and its speed fits the purpose I think.

Yes I did. The tyres are 49.5x20, width is 15 studs and length is way under TC18 limit. Additional constraint: height is just above 11 studs (hard limit of the lower deck is 12 studs).
