What started in this thread ( http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...mp;#entry300825 ) has led me to try my hand at my own custom Mola Ram minifigure (or the headress, at least. I could never beat Hinckley's decals! )

I started with a Viking helemt, modified some horns, and built some of it up with clay. I want it to look as official as I possibly can (kinda hard to do  ), so I generally try modifying when I try stunts like this.

Suggestions are really appreciated! (I added some notes in this flickr pic to give you an idea of what needs work/what I plan to do: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sirnadroj/2499906845/)

Thanks very much!

That is brilliant! I love the way you used a combination of custom and official pieces.

Will you post your entire fig when it is finished? if so i cant wait to see it!!

PS: very official looking

Thanks! I'll post him when he's finished.

I've added the hair to the shrunken head, and I must say, it looks better. Then I'll have to paint it.

Anyone prefer any specific paints for painting sculpey?

Woah! That's cool! I agree with legolover100, it does look official! My only criticizim is that it is too large. But that is hard to avoid when working with LEGO.

Here are some new pictures. I finished it up and baked it. So here's the baked, unpainted, and unpolished version.

It's be a huge help to me if someone knew which paint (type/brand) is best for painting sculpey.

Thanks so much for the feedback!

Won't baking ruin LEGO pieces? Mine was purely polymer clay. What I did, was froze the minifigure with the headpiece. Once it was frozen, I slid off the headpiece, and let it thaw out a little bit, then baked it. The only problem I have is that it cracked a little bit.

Great work! I think it looks decently official. I look forward to seeing the finished product. :sweet:

Thanks Sinner! :cry_happy:

Well, once baked, the clay bonds to the pieces. But it really doesn't matter, since I've got plenty of pieces to ruin.

A wonderful and very detailed work indeed!

Thank you!

Here's the final version. Baked + polished + painted. (Not in that order. ) I'm not crazy about the paint job, but it suffices. :sceptic:

Thanks! :sweet:

I know I shouldn't double-post, however the final, completed figure is finally, well, complete!

Took a while to do the headress, then get the all the decals, then I was away... it was a drawn out process; but I'm happy with him.

This is the video game version.

The headress is by me, the torso decal is by Hinckley (thanks!!) and the face/leg decals are by Kaminoan:

So there you have it: Mola Ram! :classic:

Very good stuff! But now the all important question: Can he grab his headdress and whack someone with it?

Great torso by Kaminoan; it's exactly like the game! :oh:

Also, it isn't double posting if the old post is more than a day old, I think. At least that's granted online forum rules, but I dunno... :sceptic:

But the torso is by Hinckley, not Kaminoan. Kam did the leg and face decals.
