sawfist Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Snice review! (Super nice) Though I think I'll pass on this one, I really dislike the head. What's with the frame around the neck and the clip under the head? That, and I don't really care for UCS or technic stuff. The base looks nice though! The frame around the neck, IS his neck piece just like the real one. The clip under his mouth are his 2 pairs of teeth on both sides of his mouth. Quote
liquidcross Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I just bought this set, as S@H had it for $30. (Quite a deal!) I've heard from others who have it that ol' Grievy is rather forward-heavy. Has anyone designed a mod to successfully combat this? Quote
bamaker Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 (edited) The $30 sale price on S@H finally convinced me to pick this set up. I've read about the sets tendency to lean forward, as well, and would like to know if there have been designs or mods developed to combat this. Since the feet are built right into the base, I'd also like to know if anyone had MOD'ed their set to give the General articulated knees & ankles, so he can have more of a crouching appearance. Brickus Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I just bought this set, as S@H had it for $30. (Quite a deal!)I've heard from others who have it that ol' Grievy is rather forward-heavy. Has anyone designed a mod to successfully combat this? It is not really a mod on the set itself, but the shelf I have it on has a piece of string going through it so I attached a heavy sinker to a piece of fishing line and wrapped it around his neck, and put the end with the sinker over the string in the shelf, it pulls him back so it makes him stand up straight. I doubt that helps though. Good review dunamis, your reviews are excellent. Quote
jmadd58 Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Great review of a great set dunamis! I'd love to have gotten my hands on this set while it was around, but I was only 11 when it was released and didn't have a job to pay for it yet! I do now though... Two things: First, could you give me his height not including the stand? And, you say 'For those without access to the internet, here is the parts list.' As far as I'm aware, people would need access to the internet to read this Quote
CMP Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 (edited) I'd get it if it had a cloth cape. Oh well, nice for display anyway. Edited April 8, 2010 by CallMePie Quote
ILikePi Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I bought this last year for my birthday when it was 66% off, and I'm glad that I did! It's a great parts pack (I used it for the EB battle pack contest and made a MOC that even impressed myself ) and looks very cool when built. Unfortunately he's not very posable (you can bend his hips, move the head and move the arms - two arms have one point of rotation and the other two have two points - but not much else. First, could you give me his height not including the stand?I measured mine and he's about 15¼ inches (39 cm) up to the neck and about 23 inches (59 cm) up to the top two lightsabers. I'd get it if it had a cloth cape. Oh well, nice for display anyway.Yeah, that's the fatal flaw of the set. If they gave Technic Darth Vader a cape, then decided to give Construct-a-Zurg a cape years later, why not one for this set (it also seems that the CW Grievous minifig won't have a cape, either)? They certainly should've given him a cape, it'd add so much more character to him. Plus he'd look more imposing. Which is what General Grievous is Quote
Siegfried Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Seeing this topic is active again, I'd like to say that this is one of those sets that works best when seen live. It's hard to take photos that do this set justice. I wasn't too impressed with him until I bought it. In particular the red around the eyes is simple but very effective. I've still yet to break mine. Should he have a cape? It's hard to be sure, but I tend to say no. Other toys... ...don't, and he doesn't wear on in the scene. Thus, he should either have 2 arms, no sabers and a cape, or 4 arms, 4 sabers and no cape. Afterall he is meant to look like he does in the Obiwan fight scene; it's not like you can play with him.
