Minifig Lecturer Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Here is a corner of a terrace for a stadium I am making. As you can see the corner is very sharp. I want to get away from the square look and make it look curved like most terraces are. I only have LDD to mess around with as Im not with my bricks and it is proving hard to find something that works. Anyone have any ideas or have done something they've found to look good?? Thanks. F0NIX Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 (edited) Well, I see diffrent techniques that can be done. One crude one is just to use hinges or something like that and make sections of the "stairs" from top to bottom and slightly angle each section as you go around. That would creat a gap between the bricks some places. If the arena is large this could work well. But for smaller models the gaps would probably not look good. Another way to do it is to use wing plates like "Wing 2 x 3 Left" (and right of same), "Wing 2 x 4 Left" (and right of same) and "Plate 4 x 4 without Corner" or other wing shaped plates or bricks like "Brick 3 x 3 without Corner" or "Brick 3 x 3 Facet". For a more curved approach just use some "Brick 4 x 4 Round Corner". Edited May 22, 2008 by F0NIX Quote
Joebot Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 My baseball stadium uses a couple of different techniques. For the walk-ways, I used lots of wedge-shaped plates to get a 45-degree angle. For the bleachers in those angled sections, I put the whole bleacher section on a turntable, then "locked" it into place with the surrounding sections. They still wiggle a little bit, but it's not very noticable. There's probably a better solution involving Technic pieces that offers more stability, but I haven't had the time to experiment with that. Quote

The bricks need some depth but I would whether lego.com sell these in grey and how expensive they are - I'll go check after this. My baseball stadium uses a couple of different techniques. I like the way you've done the corners however I won't work on my stadium as it will look quite different.. Great pics though :) Quote
