Critical thinker Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Hi Mindstorm fans! We are creating a robot that has to follow the black line from A to B. We're using a color sensor. (That problem is fixed) In a second program the robot needs to use the short cut (yellow line). What is the best solution to solve this problem? An extra color sensor? You may always share your scheme with us! Thank you! Quote
Toastie Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Hi @Critical thinker Mindstorms as in: RCX, NXT, EV3? Best Thorsten Quote
Toastie Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 @Critical thinker OK. Next question: How does your robot look like? (Hardware setup) Next question then: How do you accomplish the line following task? Classical line follower by scanning left to right and whenever there is a change from bright to dark change direction? Or a more advanced code? Is the floor exactly as shown in your picture? Does the yellow line penetrate the black line or not at all? When you have two color sensors, it becomes much easier: Depending on your robot, the scanning becomes much smoother as you can look at either border of the black line. When one color sensor detects a black/green change -> steer appropriately. And you can look for a black/yellow and/or green/yellow change on both as well; this means you need to branch off and then detect yellow/green changes for steering. But again: It all depends on your robot design and availability of more color sensors than one. Best Thorsten Quote
