I'm going to try and finish the Stud.io file over the next couple of weeks and then I’ll start on something @I_Igor will like ... converting it back into an FX4

I can hardly wait. My idea was to make TX4 with London double decker bus (or Corvette) tires, but it will have to wait; some other priorities have emerged.

Wow, it has shorter wheelbase than width. Really mad. ;D

The front spikes look great, but I would preffer them in another colour (not sure it is possible). Taxi sticker is my favourite detail.

Do you plan to use the body in casual Taxi cab MOC?

Thanks everyone.

@HorcikDesigns yes unfortunately the blades I wanted were very expensive and hard to find so these had to do. I like the shape but the colour could be better. I’m going to try and carry over as much of the body as possible but all the interior will be fresh for the standard Austin

Interesting use of Vamprah’s blue wings as blades. I remember that he and Chirox also came with black ones, so maybe you could try find them (unless those were the expensive ones)

@Bartybum the problem with the black ones is people on BrickLink only had single wings and wanted 3. The only other “new” bits on this build are the flames and the head on the bonnet. Everything else is from my collection.

also with the deadline being Monday it’s a bit late to change my mind now ?

Just photoshop them black lmao, that’s what I’d do. The part exists so it could totally be justified.

So a little update from me post competition.

Here is the stripped down chassis

And here is the body stripped back to non-Mad Max

And then I ran into a problem. I’d built my model by scaling off the front headlamp which I wanted to use a 2x2 for, this was ok as the wheel size didn’t matter for the Max vehicle.

As you can see I was working to 5mm = 1 stud from the drawings I’d printed.

But when you switch to the Wheels it means I need a 6.5 x 1.5 stud wheel and tyre combo which doesn’t exist.

So the Austin is on hold, sorry @I_Igor. But on a good piece of news @Jim has started a new competition so I’ve been working on that for 2 hours today to break up the boredom of U.K. lockdown.

@Seasider, i had lots of braked project with samo problem - crucial parts of design (and function) could not be replicated with LEGO. No worries, first priority is to be patient and disciplined untill this Covid-19 hysteria is over.

Since I have obligations to my family members that are not on one place I have much less free time than I expected (there is a work from home and on my laptop I have primary disk failure and my wife's can not be used...so mobile phone is all I got ).

Since you are in car industry (I would only be capable of mechanic job on cars 50 or more years old ) you will know when cicrumstances are  right for Austin.

Kind regards

This translates to 52 x 12 mm wheels. While not a balloon looking wheel, there's this (56 x 14 mm in size):

I hadn’t considered those as I don’t think they’re on @Sariels wheel chart on his website.

I haven’t checked their dimensions but one of the issues will be the tyre is very low profile.

Thanks, I’ll take another look after TC18

So basically it could be covered with dish 6 x 6 to give classis hub caps?

Two probably, one 6 stud wide for the white/black rubber side and like 3-4 stud wide for hub cap.

I’ll give it a go at some point and see what it looks like in stud.io assuming the wheels are in there
