SteamSewnEmpire Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 (edited) Probably not prototypically-correct interiors, but with the limitations on space, I did my best (and yes, I know that sleeping cars from the 19th Century were mostly open with no dividers, but I wanted some privacy). The "roomettes" would be closed off by cloth curtains if the car was built. There are also light fixtures in both cars, but they hang from the ceiling, and so aren't visible with the rooftops off. zephyr1934 Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Looking good! If anything, the dining car might be the more anachronistic, I THINK dining halls at stations were the norm in that era (Harvey Girls). Quote
Roadmonkeytj Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 These are excellent ... Would love to see a combine car in this same construction. Also can we get a shot of your coal stove by itself? Quote

On the other hand, I wanted a dining car, and I feel like it's okay to meander a little into the fantastic when dealing with Lego. If anything, I want to try to squeeze some more detail onto the walls to doll it up even more. 2 hours ago, Roadmonkeytj said: These are excellent ... I'm also probably going to do some kind of single-occupancy private car at some point as well. The stove is pretty basic (but has an element of fantasy, too) - the exhaust pipe also heats a coffee maker located on the counter top: Quote
Roadmonkeytj Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Thanks! I would stick to a combine as it seems more fitting for a shorter train ... But a private car with rear observation platform would be sweet way to bring up the rear instead of the traditional workman's car "caboose” Quote

"Strong, black, thanks." Bar tender adjusts amount of smoke going through coffee filter... Quote
deraven Posted November 16, 2019 Posted November 16, 2019 Beautiful! And the assembled train with locomotive and tender is fabulous! Quote
LegoDW Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 When you build this be sure to post some pictures. Would like to see it in actual bricks! Quote

Oh, that wasn't meant to be critical, you had just opened by mentioning a deliberate anachronism with the sleeping car. The cars and train look sharp. The one sad thing about detailing the heck out of the inside is that so few people get to see all of that meticulous work. But you know its there and you've got places like this where we'll marvel at all the effort you put in. Quote
